Blossom

I smiled through the anger that I was keeping inside when Jason finally decided to get up. I had been ready for the longest time but was too scared to enter his bedroom to wake him up. The reasons behind it were obvious.

"We're planning the big sweet 16 today, huh? You been waiting for this?" Jason chuckled, pouring himself a cup of coffee.

I wanted to break down and cry because of how uninterestred he actually was.

"Yay to that, right? I have to leave for school in five minutes. I'm glad you made it out of bed in time and that we had time to plan this."

"I didn't mean to sleep in. Don't be upset. We still have time later."

"It's whatever I don't need a fucking party."

"Hey!" He stopped me right when I was about to leave the scene. "What's up?"

"What's up is your effort in this. What's up is your prioritizing methods."

"What did I put above you girls, ever?"

"Answer that for yourself. What's the reason for your sleep in? Why were you so exhausted last night-"

"Stop it, Blossom."

I stood up. "You're not slick at all and these walls aren't sound proof. You're disgusting. Even Maddie would be disgusted."

"Blossom you don't have to yell about it, we're not alone in this apartment. And don't draw Maddie into this. Do not piss me off."

"I'm starting to see why she left us in the first place."

"Me having sex with someone isn't illegal and I know that Maddie would agree. I think you're just blaming me for everything possible because you're upset about the party."

I had to admit it. He was right. "Yes."

"Right? Now go to school and when you get home, we can plan for as long as you want to."

"Bye. Oh and I'm meeting up with some friends to walk to school, is that okay?"

"What about your sister?"

I shrugged. "Not my problem."

When I said meeting friends I meant meeting one person, that I had a huge crush on. He had asked me to meet a few blocks away from school so that we could walk together.

Ryan stood with his back against the wall, waiting for me when I got there. "Hi cutie. Your hair looks so nice."

"Thanks Ryan, that's funny cause my hair is the worst and I can't do anything with it."

"I absolutely love curls."

I blushed a bit. "Aw, thanks."

Ryan looked like he wanted to take my hand in his but hesitsted, then motioned for me to start walking. "So? Are you in any sports?"

"Nope. I'm thinking about dancing, though. Do you think dance would be nice?"

"Yeah. It would fit you perfectly." He winked and I didn't understand how one simple action could send a powerful chill down my body. Not the good type. Was it a sign? Something I had to listen to? Something I should've appreaciated more than I did?

Now he grabbed my hand, turning onto the street that should have been the school location, but I realized that we were nowhere close to that.

"So, where are we, Ryan?" I asked quietly.

"You'll see."

I stopped. Pressing the heel of my shoe against the pavement, I looked him deep in the eyes. "Tell me where we're going."
