Jason McCann - Weeks Later

I kept my career going with ease. I didn't make anything extreme. I stopped killing people from the day Alyssa was born, as an example. I was not expecting this to be a problem. At all.

The day came where I had to bring Blossom to work once again. Madison was going on a little adventure with Alyssa and didn't want to handle the five year old sister too.

"Blossom. I'm serious. If you act up like you did the last time we might have a problem. You and I."

"And if I behave?" Blossom switched it around so that I would focus on the positive. This was actually a great idea. Instead of threatening to take something away, I could just encourage her to be better by buying her something else.

"If you behave, I'll buy you a whole new princess bed. The one you showed me last night."

"The purple one with crowns?" She exclaimed and almost jumped out of her car seat. "The purple one with crowns." I confirmed.

"Is Alex at work?" She turned down the music playing on the radio and I nodded. "He should be. Maybe he's out on a mission but I think he should be at the office today."

"He better not be hiding from me."

"Hiding from you?" I laughed. "Why would he do that?"

"You ask him." I brought my hand upon her head and stroked her hair. "You are one weird girl."

"Did you know that Alyssa almost said mommy the other day?" I took my hand back and placed it on my lap. "Really?"

"Yeah! You were at work and we had lunch with Maddie at the house-" Blossom told me the details that I didn't want to hear. "Okay. I get it."

I have to admit that I was upset. I was upset that I missed out on her growth as a human being. Something as little as her first or second word wasn't so little to me. "She didn't say it. Just so you know." Blossom quietly mumbled, probably noticing that I was taken back.

"It's okay. We'll have to teach her to say daddy soon, right?" She nodded.

-

"Hey. I brought a friend today." I stepped inside the little warehouse office and a few guys looked at us and went straight back to work while some stopped and greeted us, mostly her. "I feel so famous everytime I come here."

"You do? Because everyone says hi?"

"No. Everyone is nice and warm."

I smiled at her comment and really just wanted to explain how these were killers and robbers. Maybe it was better to let her have her beliefs.

"Can I go check Alex office?" She mumbled and I barely let her leave my field of sight for a couple of seconds. I watched her tip toe down the hall and knock on his door. When I saw the blush creep onto her cheeks and the door swung open I couldn't help but to smile. She was so cute when it came to boys.

Don't get me wrong, I was more protective over her than I should have been but it was something about love that I liked, as long as it was little. I didn't want her to grow up and fall in love for real. I didn't want her to grow out of my arms and spin right into someone else's. She was like my daughter and made me feel like I had two kids. No one wanted to see the whole process of her falling in love but it was fine as long as she was only five years old and it was a small crush.

I watched them hug and then she cane right back to me, holding my hand. "Chocolate?" I smiled. "Chocolate."

Warehouse kitchen had a fridge from heaven and everyone knows how much the Lowe's love chocolate so I made sure to have some chocolate in there at all times. "Dark chocolate?"

"I thought you knew me better than that, Jason." I laughed and lifted her up, placing her on the counter. "Milk chocolate it is, then."

I handed her a couple of pieces. She smiled down at them, keeping them with a strong grip. "You have to hurry up. They're gonna melt any second now." She started chewing on the chocolate and I could see that she was enjoying it. "It's good, huh?"

"Knock, knock." Smith entered the room and grinned at me. "Is it bring your daughter to work day today?" He pretended to be confused, also using the word daughter to piss me off even more as if his spirit wasn't enough. "Little kids shouldn't be here."

"Good thing I'm not little, then." Blossom spoke and glared at the man in front of her, her tiny little hands gripping the chocolate pieces even harder. She was hugging them tightly.

Smith turned to me, a bit shocked from the five year old girl's little snap. "Tell her to watch her fucking mouth." I scoffed. "Or else?"

He nodded, his face looking like he just found out about the most shocking piece of information. My little comment was obviously offensive to him. He got a bit upset that I stood up for her. "We'll see what happens." He smirked and left.

I turned my eyes back to Blossom. She sat still, as if everything in this world was bothering her. "What's wrong? Why aren't you eating your chocolate?" She looked up at me with sad eyes as I walked over there. She let her head fall forward, right into my chest where she started crying. "It melted."

"Is that why you're crying?" I giggled and pushed her shoulders back. She was ashamed to be crying over such a thing but she couldn't help it. "I have chocolate all over my hand. It's so annoying." I saw the whole thing in slow motion. The way she looked down at her hand and moved it towards her leggings, about to wipe it all off.

"Oh my God! No!" I gripped her wrist and glared at her. "Don't ever do that." I let out a loud sigh and brought her into my arms and carried her to the bathroom. "This is how you do it."

I stood right next to the door and watched her pump soap into her hand and wash the melted chocolate off herself. She looked up at me and all of sudden, her eyes grew wider than I had ever seen them. She froze and even stopped breathing.

"What's wrong?" I whispered. She never moved but out of fear she let out a quiet "Daddy."

"Blossom. I'm not your-"

My legs grew weak by the touch on my shoulder and the familiar scent. "I am."

I turned around to find the man himself: Antonio Lowe. "Hi Jason." He grinned and I could hear Blossom starting to sob. This only added more pressure on me. "What are you doing here? Who let you in?"

"It's none of your business. I'm just here to pick up my daughter. I'm back from the trip now, baby." He tried to pass me but I blocked the way. "I can't let you leave with her."

"She is my daughter. There is nothing argue to about."

"You and I both know who she would pick. She's been doing just fine with us. Don't take her happiness away."

"You're so funny. Just get out of my way."

He pushed me to the side with a whole lot of force and grabbed his daughter who was screaming and crying for help. "Jason-"

Everything just broke my heart. The sight of her escaping my life came sooner than I thought. From my arms directly into the arms of someone else who wasn't half the father I could be. It wasn't even her own choice.

One more thing to worry about, explaining this to Madison. That I couldn't stop this. That her father was back in our lives.
