"Jase!" We could hear Blossom cheer through the door, someone seemed excited to see me. As soon as I opened the door up, her tiny arms swung around my leg and held it as hard as she could. Of course I squeezed her body a bit, hugging her back in a way. Blossom then moved her index finger in the air, telling me to bend down. I went on my knees in front of her and she placed her lips on my cheek and kissed me for a good five seconds.
"Looks like you have both my baby girls wrapped around your little finger, McCann." A dark voice chuckled. I looked up and my eyes met his. Mr Lowe? Speaking? English? "I guess so.." I awkwardly scratched my neck as I didn't know what to do. I just couldn't look him in the eyes and have a conversation going. Not with all the secrets that he is hiding from his family.
It honestly felt like Blossom was moving in with us. Her parents had prepared multiple suitcases for her visit. Deep inside, I knew this wasn't just over the weekend, this was for a longer time. I didn't want it to, but it crossed my mind that maybe this was even permanent. Forever and always.
"Take good care of my baby, alright?" Antonio gave me a glare before getting on his knees, right in front of Blossom. He gave her a speech in spanish, showing a lot of love and affection. I silently wished for my personal spanglish translator to be by my side, I was way beyond curious about the words being exchanged in the air. "Take care of my big baby, too?" Antonio was on his feet again, with one hand on my shoulder. I nodded as a way of promising him to take care of them both. "That's what I was put on earth to do-"
"Isn't that just too cute..." Madison giggled as she wrapped her arms around my body from behind. I felt my cheeks heat up and I turned around, finding her with a big smile on her face but what really caught my attention was the tears. She had been crying and I could sense that it was something her mother told her.
The same question kept running through my mind, over and over again.
What was going on? Was everything okay?

Jason and I put my little sister in her bed after she fell asleep in my arms, crying of course. I couldn't help but to stare at her in awe. Blossom was gorgeous. She was only five years old and as gorgeous as she could be. "C'mon babe, she could wake up.." Jason whispered, slightly pulling on my hoodie. "Are you horny or something?" I giggled and pulled him closer to me, making him smirk. "Baby... No. We have to talk." He took my hand in his as we left the guest room and sat down at the dinner table.
The table? Damn. This must be serious.
"W-what's wrong?" I breathed out and looked at him, trying to read his face. "I don't know, Madison, you tell me!" He was already starting to raise his voice so he was obviously too upset to talk about it. "Can we cool off a bit and talk about it like real adults?" I cooed, putting my hands on his. "I can't relax before you tell me, just spill."
"My mother gave me a heartfelt speech about how much she loves me and how proud she is over the woman I am despite everything that has happened. I- I could just sense that this was a goodbye..." I couldn't keep the feelings bottles up anymore. I just let it out. "She's gonna die, Jason."
His facial expression changed drastically, sympathy was written all over it. "How can you be so sure, baby? Maybe it's a misunderstanding..." I dramatically shook my head. "She explained to me in detail how she's been getting letters from this brothel company... and it has the same name as my little sister." I cried into his chest and I felt him stiffen. "Isn't that sick? We have to keep her safe here. Please?" Jason mumbled a slurry "of course" and I knew that his mind was far, far away from our conversation.
"Maddie. I think I know who's after her." Jason confessed and I felt my whole world stop, along with my heart. What?
