chapter 45 - ruin

Jason

"Stay in the car with Alyssa and don't get out. Don't try me tonight." I told Blossom with my finger in the air as he held Samson by his shoulder. They said their goodbyes and I slammed the door shut.

"Text your brother and tell him to open up." I ordered Blossom's boyfriend to have my so called friend by the door. "Done. He's coming."

Trey was a bit shocked to see me outside his door but he should've known that I took his pretty collage as an invitation. "Samson. Jason. Odd to see the both of you here at the same time." Trey chuckled and crossed his arms. "What brings you here, McCann? Missing something?"

Samson was beyond confused.

"Trey? Babe?" I heard soft, naked feet slapping against Trey's floor. My wife's feet.

"This is so sick." I told him. "You're completely insane."

Maddie pushed the door open and revealed her half naked self. My heart broke with every inch of her I managed to take in through tear-brimmed eyes. "Hi." She said, a bit shocked.

"Hi? Is that it?" I said as loud as I could. This wasn't loud at all. Barely above a whisper.

"Jason, I really don't know what to tell you. You treat me like shit at times and I've had enough. I need this."

"You need what? Getting the life fucked out of you until your personality isn't even alert enough to show? You're gonna ruin yourself forever. Listen to me."

"Ruin myself? I feel great." She scoffed and let her fancy lace robe fall off her shoulder a bit, tugging on Trey's shirt. "Go find someone else until I'm ready to be your girl again. It takes so much to be with you Jason, I have to cook and take care of kids and pretend like I'm actually fine with having sex like what? Once a month?"

"I guess you're relieved now that you don't have to take care of kids now, huh? Your daughter, what about her? Do you miss her?" I stepped closer to the door, burying my eyes deep inside hers. "Do you even care, Madison?"

"This is like a vacation and not all parents bring children on their vacations." She put it out there in a different tone than what she really wanted to say. I was so angry that I doubted ever wanting her back. "I didn't know that you wanted this so badly, Madison. You're fucking dead to me."

Samson was uncomfortable to a new level.

"Don't say that, Jason. You know you'd do anything for me if I came back tomorrow and told a few heartbreaking lies."

I jumped forward and managed to punch something. That something, I realized was Maddie's hip when she bent forward to grasp it. "Never. Don't expect meeting Alyssa or Blossom in the future. Don't come back crying for love or money cause I fucking hate you. I regret ever meeting you. Ugly fucking troll."

Suddenly I stood alone outside the house. I had yelled my heart out at Madison, who wasn't the same person I fell in love with at 16 or married. She was changed and possesed by the fairy tale world Trey Smith was painting her with the help of strawberries and sex. And money.

I knew that this was over. That there would never be Jason and Madison again. Our family wouldn't be the same. I learned that I had to love the kids double as much and work even harder to have everything go smoothly. But that was what I wanted in life. For my girls to be happy, which had a different definition now, there were only 2 of them.

I sat in the front seat for a while, watching the girls cuddled up in the back seat, holding onto each other with their eyes softly shut. I didn't bother to wake anyone up because it was so peaceful like that. It actually made me smile, how peaceful it was. They were my entire world.
