Jason

I went to bed that night knowing that I was going to possibly kill people the next day. I was going to meet everyone from the gang in New York for the first time. I didn't feel 100% about going back to that lifestyle to the fullest. I hadn't left the gang, I just hadn't been working for them in that way. But I had thrown myself into that position again so I had to suck it up.

Maddie came to lay down for the night. It was a bit weird how this was normal now. Sleeping in the same as someone after sleeping alone for a long period of time.

"I'm nervous."

"For work?" She asked.

"Yeah. I've been safe these last couple of months and I've kinda... forgotten what it's like to have your life at risk all the time."

"I get it. I'm nervous too because if anything happened to you, I'd lose my goddamn mind."

"Don't be nervous. You know I'm an immortal beast." I chuckled.

Maddie rolled her eyes. "So.. Alyssa? And Hanna?"

"Yeah. That's her best friend. Has been ever since we moved here."

"And you're sure they're just that?"

I sat up and looked down at her. "Better be."

"What?"

"It's so unnatural." I sighed.

"Don't say that. If Alyssa likes her, let her. What's the problem?"

I really wasn't comfortable in this situation. I didn't want to seem offensive and hateful but I didn't believe in what Maddie was defending.

"I think it's straight out disgusting."

Maddie just shook her head in disbelief.

"After all these years, how could I not have known that you were a homophobe?"

"I'm not-"

"You are. And that, my friend, is disgusting."

"I really don't have a problem with it in general but when it comes to my child? I'm not having it."

"Then you're gonna have to adjust."

"Or wait until this phase is over."

Madison stood up, grabbed her pillows and threw me an ugly look. "It's the way you're born, not something you grow into. You fucking dumbass. I'm sleeping on the couch."

"Nah. Maddie come here." I said and grabbed her pillow and pulled her back into bed.

"Let me go."

"No. I'm sorry. It was stupid of me to say that."

"Yes it was." Maddie sounded really angry and pouty over what I had said. So I figured it was something serious. I had no idea, no one had taught me anything about this.

"Gimme a kiss and it's over with. Let's not bring it up again." She crawled over to my side of the bed and pressed her lips against mine. She didn't give me one kiss, she gave me three.

"I've missed you so much." She whispered and kissed me again.

I just smiled at her.

"Babe. I'm not even tired." She rolled on top of me and began kissing down my jawline. She had been so extra lately? She was never like this in Miami. Never.

"Well... Baby, now I'm not tired either." I couldn't see any part of her body since we were under the covers but I felt my way around her body to find where I wanted to start. I pulled her shorts and panties off and threw them to the floor.
