Several papers were scattered in front of me as my mentor was giving his lecture. Jason Gideon, a legend in the FBI, chose me to be his assistant while he was on leave. It all started when I questioned him in the middle of his lecture six months ago. He took notice of me and, four months ago, asked me to work for him. Of course he knew about my reputation in the FBI. I finished my training prior to taking Gideon's lecture and was already considered an asset to the Bureau, considering my ability to read people.

"The Footpath Killer is not particularly bright." Gideon stated as I stared at the files. "He's a disheveled male in his twenties who works a menial job and owns an American-made truck, probably in need of some repairs."

I continued to browse the files. "He lacks confidence, which means he's unable to charm his victims." Gideon continued. "He will not stop killing unless he's arrested." He looked at me, knowing I was in my very own bubble. "He has absolutely no control over his impulses, which is why his killings are so violent."

"Over kill..." I mumbled and Gideon nodded.

The door opened in a swift motion and I noticed a scrawny man that couldn't be more than 25 years old, his brown hair combed, his hazel eyes fixated on Gideon. "You're needed, Gideon." His expression was concerned and I could tell something bad had happened.

Gideon looked at me and motioned for me to follow him. I grabbed the files and placed them inside my bag, immediately following the two men. "Who is she?" The man asked and Gideon stared at me.

"That is Cassie Porter, my assistant." He pointed at me and the man gave me a soft smile. "This is Spencer Reid." Gideon grabbed a file and put on his glasses. "Actually, it's Dr. Porter and Dr. Reid. She's coming with me."

"I'm not exactly dressed for a case." I pointed at my white dress and black leather jacket, something inappropriate for a serious FBI case.

"Do you have a go bag?" Gideon asked and I nodded. "Then you can change as soon as we get to the BAU."

With that, both men started to walk outside and I followed suit. My first unofficial BAU case... Perhaps, it would be my chance to get a spot on the team.

After arriving in Quantico, I was able to change to a more appropriate attire, hoping to blend in with the rest of the team. Gideon welcomed me and I stood there, fidgeting my fingers. "This is Cassie Porter... Dr. Porter." He introduced me.

"Any relation to prosecutor Arthur Porter?" Hotch asked.

"It's judge Arthur Porter now." I corrected him. "He's my father."

Hotch smiled at me. They had worked together when Hotch was still working at the D.A's office. "I don't mean to be rude, but you look awfully young to be an FBI agent." Derek Morgan stated.

"Age does not matter when you have a PhD in Physics, Mathematics and Psychology as well as a Masters in Engineering and BA in History and Literature." I explained.

Morgan smiled. "Another Reid." He pointed at the kid. "Let me guess, you're in your twenties."

"I'm 22 years old." I replied confidently.

"Cassie is the best in her field." Gideon defended her. "A true expert at reading people through microexpressions."

"Wait... You're the Human Lie Detector, aren't you?" Morgan asked in shock.

"That is a misconception." Dr. Reid interjected. "There is no such thing as a human lie detector. Microexpressions is not a proved science, although it holds up in court."
