"Unfortunately, a super abundance of dreams is paid for by a growing potential for nightmares." - Sir Peter Ustinov

I never thought I would do something like this. My hands were shaking and my legs felt like they were about to give up. Tonight marked the very first date of my entire life. I called Josh Cramer and he invited me to have dinner with him. Was I crazy?

I was wearing a navy blue satin dress that reached my ankles. My hair was loose and my makeup was in earth tones. I had no idea if it was appropriate but Trish reassured me when we video chatted. I had become close with the Davenport twins once again.

As I parked in front of the Thai restaurant, I checked my makeup in the mirror and took a deep breath before leaving my car. He was waiting for me by the door and smiled as soon as he saw me. "Good evening." He greeted me.

"Good evening, Agent." I smiled and he gestured me to walk inside, placing his hand at my lower back.

We sat down and the waiter poured water on both our glasses. "I was surprised by your call." He started.

"Well, you gave me your number. It felt like a waste not to use it." I smiled before taking a sip of my water. "But I have to ask, why did you ask me out?"

"I could point out the obvious and say it was because you're stunning." I smiled at his compliment. "But that would be a lie. I'm much more attracted to your mind. The way you conducted that interrogation... It was like you commanded his attention. You were fearless and confident and insightful."

"I am quite comfortable in the interrogation room." I smiled coyly.

He grinned at my response. "I gotta say, it was fun digging up everything on you. I heard about the Human Lie Detector, I just had no idea it was you."

"I hate that name." I sighed. "It's as if what I do is just one big magic trick. I actually had to study a lot and work my ass off to be able to do what I do."

"Either way, I can't believe I'm having dinner with the elusive Dr. Cassidy Porter."

I glanced at him with a shy smile. "Just call me Cassie."

"Only if you call me Josh." He smiled and looked into my blue eyes. "Now tell me about yourself."

"I was born in New Haven, Connecticut. My father is a judge and my mother is an interior designer. I have an older sister and a younger brother. Went to college at fifteen and got three PhDs before turning twenty."

Josh nodded his head while listening attentively. "What can you tell me about me?" He challenged me.

I observed him and got in the zone, as Gideon liked to call it. "You come off as arrogant and cocky due to your line of work. You're a workaholic which is why you've never had a successful relationship." He widened his eyes. "You have a wedding ring mark which means you are recently divorced. Marital problems usually stem from infidelity, financial problems or a highly demanding job, your case." I paused to take a big gulp of water. "You are attractive and you know it. Makes it easier to meet women. But why would you choose me? I'm significantly younger, we have nothing in common aside from being in the FBI and I'm sure you wouldn't take a night off work for a rendezvous."

"You're a fascinating woman, Cassie." He replied. "And I've never been analyzed by such a beautiful profiler. I believe you deserve my undivided attention."

"So you have no intention of sleeping with me?" I asked bluntly and he nearly choke on his drink.

He stared at me for a moment. "We should get to know each other first."
