"We can easily forgive a child who's afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light." - Plato

Spencer and I were shopping for Halloween. He wanted to distract me from the whole Elle incident and we both shared the same love for the holiday.

"What are you going to be for Halloween?" Spencer asked while holding a pumpkin mask.

I absentmindedly traced my fingers on a fake machete. "I haven't thought about. Halloween is next week."

"I think I might go as a ghoul." He said before doing a diabolical laugh.

I chuckled at his goofiness. "I see that you're excited for my parents' Halloween party."

"Of course. It's my favorite time of the year." Spencer had mentioned that before.

Maybe I should be more excited for it. "I could be Michael Myers." I suggested while holding a Michael Myers mask.

"And hide your pretty face?" He gasped. "Never, Cassie."

"How about a vampire?" I showed him some fangs and he shook his head in disapproval. "An angel?" I grabbed a pair of white wings.

"That's not scary." Spencer complained.

I sighed in frustration. "I'll cover myself in fake blood." I explained.

"You'll be sticky all night." He stated and, of course, he was right.

"Then I shall be death." I grabbed a fake scythe and wiggled my eyebrows. "A short black dress, some boots and dark makeup. Done." I said proudly.

Spencer cornered me at the end of the store and leaned closer to me. "You'll be the most attractive representation of Death in pop culture." I blushed at his compliment and, after we paid, we left the store. Spencer knew how to distract me. That handsome devil!

I sat between Spencer and Gideon at the round table while Hotch was presenting a case. "We're going to Ozona, Texas to investigate the murders of Robbie Davis and Nicholas Faye." He clicked the remote. "Both victims were found in the woods with blunt force trauma to the heads."

"The unsub must be local." Morgan noted.

"Definitely." I agreed. "Both kids were found deep into the woods. Only a local would venture that far."

"He's targeting elementary school students but there's no sexual assault." Hotch added.

"He's killing for the pleasure of it." Gideon chimed in.

Hotch turned off the screen and grabbed the files. "Wheels up in 30." We all got up and started to head to the door. "Porter!" He called me.

I turned around. "Yes, sir."

"Have you seen Elle?" He asked with a stern tone.

"No." I replied. "Did something happen?"

"She was supposed to come for her psychological evaluation and she never did." He explained.

I frowned. "She's being reckless, Hotch. I don't know what to do."

"I already told Gideon that I'm staying to deal with Greenaway. He's in charge of this case." Hotch stated.

"Good luck, Hotch." I smiled softly and he nodded. Elle is digging her own grave by acting out. i wish I could be there for her.
