"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world." - Einstein
It's been a week since the Seattle case. I applied to the BAU position that had been filled by Elle Greenaway, although Chief Strauss was impressed by me and decided to push my application so I could join the BAU.
I entered Strauss' office and noticed her children's pictures. She had a favorite, just like every parent. My father clearly favored me. "Good morning, Agent Porter." She smiled before sitting down.
"It's Dr. Porter." I corrected her, not bothering to look at her. Instead, I sat across from her and looked at the window. "People only take me seriously when they hear that I'm a doctor." I explained.
Strauss looked straight at me, feeling embarrassed and annoyed. "Dr. Porter, you finished the FBI training with merit." She complimented me. "And you passed the firearms training in record time."
I finally looked at the blonde woman sitting in front of me. "Chief Strauss, I have an IQ of 184, an eidetic memory and can tell when people are lying. I concluded my first PhD before I turned twenty. It should come to no surprise my ability to pass a simple firearm test." I knew I was a bit arrogant when it came to my achievements.
"Very well, Dr. Porter. Here's your credentials and your gun." Strauss put everything on the table and I grabbed my credentials first, smiling as I read my name on it. Then I grab my Glock 17and examine it carefully. "Welcome to the Bureau, Doctor." She extended her hand for me to take.
In a swift motion, I shook her hand and grabbed my Purell. "Thank you, Chief Strauss." I left her office and headed to the elevator to the 5th floor. I had a meeting with Hotch before joining the team in an official capacity.
As I left the elevator, Morgan looked at me and wiggled his brows. "Guess the meeting with Strauss wasn't stressful at all." He said sarcastically.
"I had to shake her hand." I replied with a disgusted expression. I could not consider myself a germophobe as I enjoyed physical contact with my family but the idea of shaking hands with strangers was enough to send me over the edge.
"The number of pathogens passed during a handshake is staggering." Reid ranted. "It's actually safer to kiss."
Morgan chuckled at Reid and I couldn't help but blush. "What do you know about kissing, kid?" He asked a confused Reid.
Reid shrugged and I giggled. "Kissing can involve as many as 23 to 34 facial muscles and 112 postural muscles." I blurted out.
Morgan looked between Reid and I and shook his head. "There's two of you now."
"She's not wrong though." Reid stated as he started to walk to his desk. "A regular person can burn 2 to 3 calories, depending on the intensity of it."
I noticed my name on the desk right across from Reid and took a sit. "Kissing must be quite the workout." I said nonchalantly.
"Wait..." Morgan laughed and sat on my desk. "Are you telling me you've never been kissed? How old are you?"
"I am 22, turned in June. Thank you very much." I placed my notebook and two pens right in front of me before turning on the computer. "Why the sudden interest?"
"You never had a boyfriend?" Morgan asked in disbelief.
I sighed at his unnecessary comment. "I was 12 when I started high school and 15 when I got into Georgetown. My interest in boys didn't peak until I was in the Academy and, by that time, no guy would talk to me." I stated.
