"A belief is not merely an idea the mind possesses; it is an idea that possesses the mind." - Robert Oxton Bolt

Elle and I were a train to Dallas to interview a serial killer who was on death row. I was excited cause Elle and I haven't spent time together since we started working at the BAU. I usually hang out with Spencer, Penelope and JJ.

"How exciting is this trip?" My eyes beamed with glee.

"We're going to interview a killer, Cassie." Elle retorted while looking at the files.

"I know, but it's still exciting." I replied. "It's possible he will confess to more murders since he's being executed in two weeks."

Elle turned to me with a puzzling smile. "Cassie, you're young, pretty, smart and sweet. Why did you choose a career in the FBI? You could've done so much career wise."

Her question threw me off guard. "My fascination with death started when I was still a child and my dad would work on really gruesome cases when he was in the DA's office. I guess I wanted to catch the bad guys instead."

"What was your life like in Connecticut?" She seemed genuinely curious.

"It was great." I replied with a huge smile. "My dad was always working but he would take the sunday off to spend time with me. And my mom was very present during my childhood. She would cook for me and play with me. She even took me to book signings even though she hated the books I read." My mind wandered to my peaceful life in New Haven. "My big sister, Kitty, she really helped me through out high school and never made me feel like an outsider due to my age. And my brother, Matt, he always looked up to me saying he wished he was as smart as I am. But he is smart."

Elle glanced at me with a soft expression. "It seems like you had the perfect life."

"What about you Elle?"

"My dad was a cop in New York and he died on duty when I was young." Her eyes started to water. "But my mom was great. I decided to be an agent to honor my dad."

I put my hand on her back. "That's sweet, Elle. You know, we should hang out more."

"I agree. It should be us against the boys." She smirked.

"Does Spencer count as a boy? Cause he's really great." I defended my friend.

"If he has a penis, he's a boy." She chuckled and I laughed.

A while later, Elle and I kept talking about life and work, while gossiping about everyone, when the train stopped. "What happened?" Elle asked with furrowed eyebrows.

"I don't know but I have to use the restroom." I said as I stood up and walked toward the small bathroom on the train. I hated peeing while the train was in motion.

When I opened the door to my carriage, I noticed a man holding a gun and Elle handcuffed to her seat. I went back to the bathroom and grabbed my phone. "Gideon, we have a situation." I said as my mentor picked up the call. "Everyone in my carriage has been taken hostage."

"Where are you, Cassie?" Gideon asked, his voice filled with worry.

"I'm in the bathroom." I whispered. "He hasn't noticed me. What do I do?" I was scared for my life. I've never been involved in a hostage situation.

"Do you have your service gun?" He asked.

"Yes." I replied.

"Hide it in the bathroom and try to gain his trust by proving you're unarmed." Gideon asked. "Please, be careful Cassie." He hung up and I grabbed my gun, placed it behind the toilet and walked towards the carriage.
