"All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another." - Anatole France

Spencer and I were walking downtown and talking about the noir film we watched last night. "It was surprisingly good." He stated.

I rolled my eyes. "Spence, I have good taste."

"Debatable." He shrugged. "I didn't care much for Never Been Kissed."

I gasped in disbelief. "You shut your mouth! That's a classic."

Spencer smirked. "It might be a classic but it was problematic. The teacher fell in love with Josie while she was pretending to be his student."

"It's romantic." I pointed out.

"It's borderline criminal. He didn't know she was undercover and, still, pursued her." Spencer was annoying the hell out of me.

"How can you say that? He fell in love with her personality." I claimed.

Spencer looked at me with an amused expression. "Which means he's immature since he believed she was 17 years of age. I truly believe their relationship didn't last after the credits ended."

"Well, I choose to believe they found their happy ending." I said as I glanced into his hazel eyes. "I expected more of you, Spence."

He grabbed my waist and planted a soft kiss on my lips. "I suppose the love stories we watch are not as romantic as ours. That's why I can never truly enjoy them."

I stared at his beautiful face. "Nice save, doctor." He kissed me one more time and we kept walking. Spencer could be romantic when he wanted to.

Morgan and I arrived at the conference room and Hotch had a very stern expression on his face. Spencer saved me a seat and I took, smiling softly at him.

Hotch cleared his throat. "Brian Matloff just woke up from his coma."

"The Blue Ridge Strangler?" Emily asked.

"Yes. The doctors said he has focal retrograde amnesia." Hotch stated.

Morgan shook his head. "Are you for real? He killed at least four women and we're supposed to believe he just forgot about it?"

JJ handed us the case files and I opened mine. "Gideon talked about this case in one of his lectures. He would strangle brunette women with his belt and buried them face down."

"I'm glad you're familiar with the case, Porter, because you will be interviewing him." Hotch said.

"What am I supposed to do if he has amnesia?" I asked in confusion.

"You should try to trigger his memory, if he really doesn't remember anything." Hotch advised me. "It's important to confirm he's actually telling the truth. If he is, there will be no case and he walks."

I nodded. "I will do my best."

"You can do it, kiddo." Rossi winked at me. "If anyone can get him to talk it's you."

"Rossi's right." Spencer agreed. "If Matloff is lying you're the only person who can tell." I nodded slightly unsure. I was confident of my abilities but I never deal with someone who suffered from focal retrograde amnesia before.

I went inside the interrogation room where Brian Matloff was sitting. "Hello, Mr. Matloff. I'm Dr. Cassidy Porter with the FBI."
