"The irrationality of a thing is not an argument against its existence, rather, a condition of it." - Nietzsche
I stepped inside the bullpen and sat on my desk, noticing a mopey Spencer. "What's bothering you, doctor?" I teased him and he sighed.
"Promise not to laugh." He begged and I nodded. "I failed my firearms qualification exam and can't carry a gun on the field."
"It's okay, Spence. You can retake the exam in two weeks and I will help you pass it." I looked at him with a smile on my face, trying to calm him down. "I aced my exam."
Spencer looked around and leaned closer to his desk and so did I. "I don't want the rest of the team to know. They'll give me pitiful looks like I'm a child."
"They do treat us like children." A sudden realization hit me. "Your secret's safe with me."
He gave me a small smile and then Hotch showed up. "We have a case." He stated and we followed him into the conference room. "Three people were shot at Franklin Public Park in Des Plaines, Illinois."
"Any specific target?" Morgan asked.
"The police wasn't able to establish a connection between the victims." Hotch informed us.
I looked at the case file. "Maybe Garcia can do a background check on all victims and make sure there's no connection between them."
"In the meantime, prepare yourselves cause we're dealing with a L.D.S.K."
"Long Distance Serial Killer." My brows furrowed. It was one of the most unpredictable serial killers out there. "So are you thinking his motive is revenge or Hero Syndrome?" I asked.
Gideon glanced at me. "It could be both."
We headed to the jet and I walked along Gideon. "Um... I promised I would keep a secret but I'm sure you know."
"Reid failed his exam?" Gideon asked and I nodded. "We're dealing with a sniper and he has no gun."
"He shouldn't be on the field." I replied. "I'm worried about him."
Gideon turned to me with a soft expression. "You care a lot about Reid."
"He's my best friend."
"Sure, kid." Gideon smirked and we kept walking until we reached the jet. I really hated when Gideon failed to inform me of his thoughts. Clearly, he knew something I didn't and it involved me.

After arriving at the police station, I noticed the officers were looking at me with weird expressions. "Is it just me or are they staring at me?" I asked Morgan who looked back and nodded. "Why?"
"Look Pretty Girl, everyone knows you're the smartest kid in the room but these officers don't." Morgan stated. "They see a pretty young blonde girl dressed like a teenager." He pointed at my outfit.
I shouldn't be wearing a skirt with boots. "They don't trust that I can do this job." I realized, looking at my feet.
Morgan placed his hand on my shoulder. "Don't doubt for a second how great of an agent you are." He said with a serious expression. "You're not just a pretty face, Cassie. Your insight has been nothing but helpful to us and thanks to you, we get to catch the unsubs even when they lie to us, which is often."
"Thanks, Morgan." I smiled softly at him and he winked me with a smug expression.
"And this is Dr. Porter." Hotch introduced me to the officers. "She's our expert in microexpressions which is valuable to catch this sniper before he attacks again."
