"Other things may change us, but we start and end with family." - Anthony Brandt

I was in my apartment ready to go to work, when I heard a knock on the door. I looked through the peephole and saw Spencer Reid. Why does he have to be so damn adorable? I looked at the mirror near the coat hanger and made sure my blonde hair was perfectly styled.

Once I opened the door, Spencer walked in and gave me a soft smile. "You look nice." He complimented.

I blushed a little and grabbed my bag. "So do you." We walked outside and I locked the door. "Ready for work?" I teased him.

Spencer nodded and glanced at me. "Of course. Having you at work actually makes it better."

"Why?" I asked, my eyes widened at his small confession.

"It beats handling Morgan alone." Spencer smiled. "You always tease him for me and, well, you're prettier than him." I could tell he was blushing.

We reached the elevator and he pressed the button to the lobby. "You know, I actually enjoy working with you as well." I confessed. "I always felt like an outcast but with you around, I feel normal."

Spencer brushed his fingers on mine. "You are normal, Cassie." We left the elevator and walked to my car. "And I'm glad we're colleagues and friends."

He hopped into my car and I stopped for a second. Colleagues and friends... His words hurt me but what was I expecting? I could never tell him how I feel.

"Lupe Trejo was found dead in her home by her daughter in Allende Del Sol, Mexico." JJ informed us. "She's the fifth victim."

"Why are we only getting the call now?" Morgan asked.

Hotch adjusted his tie. "The DA's office is reluctant to admit they have a serial killer. It's bad for tourism."

I scattered around the files and read the coroner's reports. "Those women were all stabbed in the face, chest and genitals. There's a sexual component but they weren't raped." I stated.

"He could be impotent." Elle suggested.

"Or they're surrogates for a woman he perceives as controlling." Spencer added.

"Either way, we need to be careful with this case." Hotch warned us. "If the DA feels we're jeopardizing their image, we can be shut down."

It's strange dealing with such a political case. My father would always complain about the lack of support from the DA's office when he was a prosecutor. But politics and bureaucracy rule our country.

"What can we expect when we get there?" JJ asked. Being the Media Liaisons was not an easy task.

"The police is willing to assist us. The only thing we need to worry is the pressure from the District Attorney General." Hotch frowned. "And you should let the local media deal with the news. They understand their people."

"I think I should just study the unsub's MO." I suggested, in fear Hotch would put me on blast.

"Actually, I was thinking you could help me with the DA." Hotch said with pleading eyes. "Your father is a judge and you know how much that weighs in these cases."

"Why am I always leverage?" I asked and everyone laughed.

Gideon turned on his seat. "Reid and I could take care of the preliminary profile."

"I agree." Hotch turned to the rest of the team. "Greenaway and Morgan you should go to the latest crime scene and interview the witnesses." They nodded and we started working on the case. I needed information on the DA to be on my best behavior.
