"i can't believe you're both sick on felix's birthday!" chan's complaining speaker voice makes you wince and jolt away from the phone.

"me neither, man. me neither," felix says.

you watch felix as he kicks the blanket off, then pulls it back over him, and repeats the process over and over.

"so i take it that means you don't want us over?" chan questions.

"yeah, sorry chan." the rest of the group can be heard loudly booing and whining in the background and it makes you and felix snicker.

"okay, that's fine. we'll just come over the second you stop coughing, does that sound good?"

you cough, the irony making you smile. "sounds good, right lix?"

"yep, thanks mate," felix confirms.

with that, you two say goodbye to chan and flop back into the mattress where you belong. after a long silence, felix has a coughing fit and you instinctively rest a hand on his. "you good?"

he aggressively clears his throat. "never."

you guys just lay like that for a while, staring at the ceiling amidst your off and on hot flashes. eventually, you find enough strength to call lia and the girls to tell them not to come over, which she's bummed about but sends you and felix her well wishes.

both of you woke up at noon with terrible congestion and runny noses. you feel awful that felix has to go through this on his birthday, but he doesn't seem all that shaken about it.

"do you ever sometimes wonder if your hallway crush ever liked you back?" felix randomly says.

"sometimes," you reply. "i know one hallway crush who liked me back..."

you and him look at each other with silly smirks and wiggle your eyebrows before cackling. "holy shit, we're so tired," felix says as he catches his breath.

"you're so smart," you say. "have you ever wondered what having sex while being super sick would feel like?"

"i have, honestly" felix reveals. "i think it's because we're so tired and hot that our body tricks us into thinking we're horny."

you turn your head to him. "great analogy. are you horny?"

felix hisses dramatically before facing you. "yeah. you?"

you close your eyes and nod your head. "yep. i totally share your struggle, man."

may it be the virus altering your brain chemistry, or possibly the amount of ibuprofen you two have taken since you first awoke a few hours ago as you tried to decide whether to still hold the party or not; you both are pretty worked up.

you shimmy closer to him and put your head on his chest. "you probably aren't having the best birthday, huh?"

both of his hands come up to rest on your back. "meh, it's alright. i get to spend it all with you, so that helps a ton."
