When will you get here?" Kai asked pulling his pants up as he held the phone between his ear and shoulder. He was running a little bit late for work today after such an exhausting week. "Hmmm. Probably around 3." Her sultry voice came over the line.  "You missed me already?" She teased. Kai scoffed but stayed silent. He did miss her bothering him.

"I'll take your stubborn silence as an answer." She sounded triumphant. Kai couldn't help but grin knowing she wouldn't see it. "I can tell you miss me too because you call me every 45 minutes." He acknowledged. Now it was Adeline's turn to be silent. "Anyways... I'm ready to come home. I'll be there as soon as I can but no promises on getting back before 3pm. We have a lot of things to catch up on."

Kai caught her intended message. After they spent the night together they hadn't had the opportunity to do it again. Adeline was swept up in preparing for her Italy trip and filming final wrap up in California. Kai was a little bummed about it but he didn't lose sleep over it. He knew Adeline was the same way. They were adults and if this was even going to remotely work they would have to just work around each others schedules.

"Like what?" He played dumb licking his bottom lip. Adeline definitely rolled her eyes on the other line and he knew it. It made him laugh. "I'm sure you can figure it out on your own." She mused.

Kai tugged his shirt over his tattoo clad body and scanned his home for his keys. "Well I'm sure whatever you're going to entice me with I'll be looking forward to it."

"I know you will." He could hear her grinning. "That's a lot of cockiness for someone who was begging me to stop and wait last time." He leaned against his door frame. He could imagine Adeline face palming with embarrassment. "I don't know if you could keep up. I was being nice."

Adeline let out a huff of annoyance. "I hold my own just fine thank you very much." Kai moved to grab his keys with a smile etched on his face. His dog Jane and cat Poe staring at him on the couch filled with curiosity.

Kai scowled at the two creatures judging him. Poe let out a meow and hopped off the couch to rub against his leg before giving him a bite on the shin just like a typical orange cat. "Ow you little sh*t!" Kai hissed. Poe was off before he could meet Kai's air jail.

"I thought we were talking about sex why are you cussing!" Adeline snapped. "I wasn't talking to you I was talking to my stupid kid."

"Your kid!?" She exclaimed as if she was going to have a heart attack. Kai let out a boisterous laugh bending over in realization of her panic. "No no not an actual child Adeline I have a cat." He managed between wheezes. Her exhale on the other line was proof of concern. Kai was the last person on the planet she needed to worry about fathering any children.

He chuckled shaking head and looked at the clock. "Sh*t Addy I gotta go. I can't wait to see you. And I'm glad you're finally done filming it feels like it was such a short time." Adeline giggled. "Well Kai you met me with 4 months left of filming missing the last 18." She added. "Touché. Okay I hope i get to see you this evening maybe? If not tomorrow?"

"Yeah. I'll call you be safe." She added. "You too." And the call ended leaving Kai to rush outside to his truck. Be safe was something new they said to each other because saying I love you still was too soon.

The last seven days Kai has had a lot of time to gain his bearings. Adeline pretty much had to leave New York 2 days after the wedding to finish the film. They have been frequently communicating over the phone barely letting more than a few hours go by before making another call.

It was quite ridiculous if he was being honest but he couldn't help himself. He couldn't wait for Adeline to come home. The new level their relationship had took sealed the deal for him. He was going to take it serious now. It had officially became serious for him.
