The days leading up to their Florida getaway were tense. Only for Kai though. He put on a nice calm demeanor for Adeline even though he knew she wasn't completely convinced he was fine.
Kai regularly vented to her about his confusion with Parker and his mother. His life had just got increasingly more complicated.
Navigating fame and now his estranged father was overwhelming. Adeline was a good comfort for him during this time. She allowed him to vent freely and gave her piece when he asked.
He knew Adeline thought it might be a good idea for them to just clear the air. But Kai wasn't sure he was willing to do all that. He had gone 34 years without knowing him. It would just cause confusion and disruption for nothing. She didn't push him any further.
Another thing that brought Kai stress was proposing to Adeline. Which was supposed to take place tomorrow afternoon.
He was a nervous wreck and Adeline definitely was concerned about his short responses and evasiveness as the days went on and the trip got closer.
"She's going to say yes you know." Jaimie looked at the guy who had asked for the millionth time if he could marry Adeline. "I just wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing. That you thought I was doing the right thing." Kai stressed as they stood together in isolation at the airport while Otsi and Adeline got massages.
"Again...I'm sure you're doing the right thing. Adeline is completely in love with you and devoted to you." Jaimie assured him. "And I know you're a good man who is going to take care of my daughter and keep her out of trouble."
Kai nodded confidently. He would never let anything or anyone hurt her.
"So yes Kai you can gladly marry my daughter." Jaimie chuckled. Kai let out a breath of relief.
"Thank you."
"I have never seen you look so nervous." Jaimie gave him a pat on the back laughing. "I've never wanted to marry someone before." Kai gave a nervous chuckle.
"Well you don't need to worry about Adeline." He responded before excusing himself to use the bathroom. Kai felt the ring box in his pocket. He was constantly nervously checking for it every 2 minutes to make sure it was there.
He didn't want to put it in a bag or a carry on in case it got lost or it fell out. So he held on to it with everything he had.
He had everything planned. He needed it to go perfectly.
"Hey!" Adeline and Otsi approached him with locked arms. Adeline's little blond wig and gigantic sunglasses made him shake his head. Her disguise was rushed to say the least. But adorable. "Hey." He smiled at them. "Was it good?"
Adeline groaned in delight. "It was amazing." Otsi nodded in agreement. "Good. We can get comfortable on our flight then." Kai smiled just as Jaimie returned.
"Are you guys ready?" Jaimie grinned before locking his eyes on Kai. Who the question was actually for. "Yup!" Adeline took Kai's hand and followed him off toward their gate.
He was surprised Adeline was okay with flying 1st class instead of private. But he didn't argue. The airline and the 1st class seats were incredible. They would basically get to sleep in beds.
When they got to their seats they were immediately catered to with wine and food orders being taken.
Otsi and Jaimie nearly passed out before take off even happened. Leaving Kai and Adeline awake and alone. "Hey." Adeline nudged him.
