It was time for the award show. Adeline had been ready for it as much as she could be. Designers were hastily working on her left and right. Hair dressers picking at her hair and pinning it where ever they could. And Adeline stood perfectly still allowing it all to be done.
Admittedly she was a little distracted. She was still thinking about Kai. Every now and then. But she didn't allow herself to wallow in it just for tonight. She stood tall. She looked beautiful and she was going to have a good time tonight.
Her performance in her film was absolutely raving so there was great suspicion that she was going to win best supporting role. But honestly she still didn't really have it in her to care all that much. It wasn't her main focus to be an actress. Mostly just a side hustle.
She had invited Otsi to the event but Otsi had other obligations. But she did bring Adeline a dozen pink roses with a knowing smile. Adeline lit up at the flowers and thanked Otsi profusely when she did. Adeline thought about the exchange as they completed her preparation before excusing themselves.
"I love pink roses!" Adeline smiled at the woman who had taken her in with warmth. Otsi giggled a little and winked. "I know." Adeline's laughed too slightly confused.
"Oh how could you have..." She started but trailed off when she realized how she could've possibly known that. Adeline looked stumped. Otsi could tell.
"You have worked so hard Adeline. You deserve every reward. We are ALL rooting for you." She really emphasized. Adeline felt her eyes water as a sad smile made its way on her face.
Adeline still didn't know how to interpret the exchange between she and Otsi. Was it that Kai had told her what flowers to get her? Or was it that Kai got them and gave them to her? Or maybe Otsi has seen him buy her flowers before.
Adeline inhaled and exhaled letting a smile take over her features. Regardless... knowing Kai was somewhere in the picture for her flowers made her heart flutter still. She wished he would be here. He always was a huge supporter of hers.
But Adeline did have Dantia, Marbelly, and her father by her side for this moment. She needed it. Especially with everything that happened after she went to the press and declared herself single.
She remembered all the articles and gossip media exploding about it online. She didn't only slightly drag Darian down... her mother also got pulled with him. And she let the public do the rest of the damning of their names.
