Kai was nervous.

Adelines car followed him to his home in the back woods. She had never been there in all the time they have been seeing each other. He wasn't normally self conscious but right now he felt on edge. Her bright red car was like an ominous presence lurking around the corner.

He tried to remember if he put his laundry away. If the litter box was fresh. Did he unload or load the dishwasher? Was his bed made?

His brain was running a mile a minute trying to remember all the important details of housekeeping. He didn't expect her to be impressed but he wanted to at least appear humane.

Kai didn't have much time left to worry because soon they were pulling in. "F*ck me." He exhaled under his breath. He couldn't remember the last time he was so nervous around a woman. He used to be a little sh*t head player as a teenager. So this territory was way out of practice for him.

Kai exited his car to turn to Adeline who was standing out of hers. Her eyes looking around with an unreadable expression. "Hey." He interrupted her thought process. She smiled at him and walked closer.

She wrapped her arms around him and kissed his cheek. "Hey." Kai let out a small breath of relief. "Well... let's head in?" Adeline nodded and followed him.

Kai unlocked the door and instantly was greeted with Jane's barking. Adeline jumped with a face of slight fear. "Sorry that's Jane. She gets excited when I come home."

Adeline wearily eyed the dog. She was a jet black German Shepard. "I thought you had a cat." Kai laughed a little. "I have both." She was never a big animal person. She didn't dislike them but she didn't love them either. Jane came up closer to Adeline slowly.

"Janey go somewhere else." Kai tried to shoo her away. But of course his animals loved to work his nerve. Jane continued to approach her and sniffed her leg. Adeline eyed Kai in confusion. Once Jane was done sniffing her she gave her a single lick and then trotted off without a second glance. Both adults watched her go.

"What was that?" Adeline mused tucking her hair behind her ear. Kai shrugged. "I guess she likes you. Jane really don't bother with people that much so you probably got the most love you're gonna get from her while you're here. Poe on the other hand is a stalker."

Adeline hummed. "Guess she doesn't care about who I am either. Probably gets it from you." Kai smirked at that. "You know me well Addy." He walked toward Jane and Poes room and closed them in so they wouldn't bother them when it became time to eat. He made his way back to Adeline wrapping an arm around her waist.

Adeline's eyes traveled around the house expectantly. She had a curiously gleam to her eyes.

He watched as Adeline detached herself from him and made her self comfortable fully looking around the place. Kai nearly held his breath as she walked. "It's small, good for one person." She noted. Kai snorted to himself. She was trying so hard to find compliments for his house. This woman was horrible at complimenting but he would humor her.

He was so proud of her attempts but honestly they were hilariously horrible. She was still the same Adeline he ended up forming a friendship with. A rich brat that he... he really liked...

"Really." He inquired. "Mhmm." She looked in his room and the guest room. "It's very you." She stated. He couldn't even be offended she was trying so damn hard to say nice things about the place. "You like it?" He grinned to himself knowing she in fact did not like it but she was trying to be nice.
