Headaches and Regrets

Kai thought of himself as a logical man. Someone who could pretty much always maintain control even in some pretty bad situations. Kai has rarely as an adult put himself in a situation where he thought things were out of his careful judgement. That's just who he was as a person. He never imagined himself being as stupid and reckless as he has been in the past 72 hours.

He had absolutely no explanation for it. Nothing to back himself up. Because he had no idea why he did it.

As soon as he calmly left Adeline's house he closed the door and stood there for like 3 minutes cussing himself out. What an absolute idiot!!! He was an idiot. A horny chaotic idiot.

And it was even worse because while he stood there freaking out, STILL he contemplated going back to her and finishing what they started. Kai was never someone driven by lust and hormones but even he was a subject to desire. He wanted to go back in so badly. He clenched his fists turned on his heel and stormed back to his car in confusion. Fighting every ounce of desire to see Adeline again.

He drove himself home in silence and admittedly... did things he was not proud of as soon as he locked Jane and Poe out of his room. He needed to just get it out of his system so everything would  go back to normal. That's what he decided to do. And he felt so confused and  drunk as he did it with hopes everything would be normal again.

But it didn't help...

All weekend Kai tried to remain cool and collected per usual but something! Just one thing would bring his memory back to what transpired at Adeline's house leading to him having to readjust himself. It was concerning and this should not have shaken him up so bad. But for some reason he was beside himself.

Come Monday as it was, Kai was not ready to start the week or face the facts. He knew they would see it on his face and he was right.

He didn't sleep and barely made it in the door when John and Reggie both noticed Kai was completely out of it. Kai tried for a while to play it cool. Both men have been glancing at him engaging him in conversation that they could tell he wasn't listening to clearly. Kai just said nothing as work took them through the day but he knew it would only last so long.

Reggie watched Kai's eyes nervously dart to the door every time it opened only to relax and go back to doing paper work. This went on all morning so far. The man looked so conflicted and paranoid that Reggie had finally had enough of it. "Kai, my office." Kai looked at him begrudgingly to find a way out. "I need to go out front and  charge this man so he can get on his day." Reggie wasn't having it so he decided to follow Kai.

The old man at the register was chatting with Kai distracting him. Prolonging the conversation that reggie wanted to have. Kai had no problem prolonging it. "Mr Rice I think Kahwihta is gonna be unhappy with me if I don't let you leave." John chuckled coming to the front mentioning the Mrs Rice. Kai glared at him knowing exactly what he was doing and Kai was not here for it.

"Ah you're right Kanerhaken:iate! She can be feisty when I'm late." He cheerily used John's real name making the man chuckle. "It was good to see you Kai, you too Rahrakwasere." He referred to Reggie's real name as well. John and Reggie took pride in their true names but honestly it was easier to just have people call them John and Reggie. Saved the headache of people continuously pronouncing it and spelling it wrong.

Hell John is so up in the air he couldn't even spell his name until he was 13. Kai got so used to calling them John and Reggie because of the clients so he just always did it unless they were hanging out on the reservation. He used to wish when he was new to the reservation that his mother actually gave him a tribal name. But alas he was just Kai. Nothing super special.
