Adeline had a lot of thinking to do today. After the other nights dinner with Darian she was having some backtracking thoughts. Amelie her mother nearly bombarded her with excited questions as soon as she got in the door.
Adeline didn't even want to talk about it because if she did her mother surely would be disappointed in her. And that was not something Adeline wanted. So she said dinner was fine and retired to her room.
She knew her mother had a feeling that meant she didn't enjoy herself but she would just lie to her at another time to keep her from prying. She would talk about how polite Darian was to her. Which wasn't a lie. Darian treated her very well. It was those around them. And Adeline was surprised she cared about that. She was the first to ignore other people and their needs.
All night as she laid in bed she thought about her date and then Kai for some reason. Not romantically of course just how honest he was. She admired it slightly. He was very interesting to her. Just interesting. He couldn't dress to save his life but he wasn't as bad as she originally thought he was. Seeing him honestly probably saved her sanity last night. Gave her enough will to finish that date.
So she supposed that's why she was actually outside of the shop right now with another car. Adeline was wearing a baby blue romper with white stilettos today.
She swallowed and head inside making the door chime. "Ms. Jones?" John lifted a brow. She offered him a quick smile. "Hi John. Is Kai in?" She briefly looked around. John slowly nodded. "Okay I'll head to the back." She dropped her keys in front of him and took herself to the back.
Kai was just sitting down drinking a coke when he noticed he wasn't alone. "Addy you're serious? Another one?" Adeline shrugged. "I told you I had a problem." Kai shook his head with a smile. "This is ridiculous. Your husband is going to die early with all these car problems."
"I'm not married." She answered way too fast. "I know Adeline." He rolled his eyes as the garage opened and John moved in her car. The two waited for a moment. As John got out and gave Kai the keys while still staring at Adeline.
"Well glad to see you again Adeline." John smiled Adeline smiled back. She went to walk back to her chair not looking where she was going but Kai grabbed her arm. Pulling her closer to him making her heart literally speed up. "Look where you are going. I'm not having your lawyers on my ass." He nodded at the ground where there was a sharp piece of metal. That would've sliced her ankle.
She huffed and removed herself from him hoping her heart would stop racing once they had space. Kai didn't see anything strange about the interaction but John was already doing back flips in his brain. "Anything else John? You helping?"
John opened his mouth then briefly looked at Adeline who as nice as she was to him, did not look like she wanted John's help. "No I'll leave you guys to it." Kai shrugged and John left.
Once they were alone again Adeline gave Kai a run down of what the problem was with her tire pressure and Kai just listened. After she was done he grabbed what he needed and went to work.
Adeline crossed her legs and watched him work. That awful music in the background was beginning to grow on her.
"So how was the date?" He grinned cheekily at her. Adeline felt her face get hot. "I told you it wasn't a date." She insisted.
"You know based on what you wear here I could almost believe you that it wasn't a date. Only if it wasn't the fact you literally were so obvious when I asked." Adeline rolled her eyes and bit her bottom lip.
"It was...fine." She lied through her teeth. Kai snorted in the background. "What!" She aspirated. "Nothing you're just a horrible liar sometimes."
