You know in the movies where the girl is on her stomach talking on the phone with the biggest smile on her face? Twirling her hair and cheeks burning from the person who was on the other side? Feet kicking in the air and bottom lip tucked in her teeth?

Yeah. That was now the great, the beautiful, the irreplaceable Adeline Carter Jones. She had been swooned by the simplest date she's ever encountered. Kai had sunk his claws into her and she had no other man she wanted to focus on.

She couldn't stop smiling to herself every minute of the hour when just the slightest thing reminded her of the other day. It was just such a beautifully simple time together and Adeline basked in the memories to carry her through the week. But thinking about him wasn't as good as talking to him.

So this was how they have spent the last five days since their date. Talking on the phone. With both parties eager to keep the conversation flowing but not brave enough to let the other person know just how much they looked forward to their phone calls. Adeline had been so busy with movie and her next shoot that they didn't get the time to see each other. So their easily agreed upon compromise was to talk anytime they could on the phone. Adeline couldn't wait until her day was over to come home and dial his number or wait for his call. It's all she really looked forward to as of late.

As long as Adeline tended to her responsibilities her mother could not get super annoyed with her new jolly attitude. Amelie was definitely suspicious though. Adeline seemed so immature and spacey all the time? Like she was hiding something from her. But Adeline was on time and killing it at everything she was doing so Amelie had no reason to believe she was doing something she should not be.

Still she did know her daughter. Maybe Darian and Adeline were actually picking up more than what Adeline let on. Adeline let her sit in on a brunch the two of them had and Adeline wasn't unpleasant during it. But she could tell as soon as the lunch was over Adeline was hasty to leave as if she had somewhere to be. Adeline had a feeling her mother was curious and knew she had to tone down her excitement a little bit but it was so hard when Kai was just so...Kai.

"And then?"

"And then he broke the pipe in the sink." Kai sighed explaining his hectic morning. "You should hire a maintenance man." She said with an obvious tone. Kai chuckled. "Well Addy who's gonna pay him?" Adeline pursed her lips.

"I'm just trying to help your stubborn behind." She scoffed. Kai laughed again. "An ass Adeline call me an ass."

She bit her lip to fight the ever growing smile on her face. "I'm not going to say that." Kai groaned on the other line. "I said the rules where you had to do it just one time." He complained.

"And I never agreed to that Mr Green." She reminded him. Kai huffed. "One of these days. I swear." Adeline laughed dryly. "Keep dreaming. And don't be mad at John for breaking the pipe I'm sure he didn't mean to." She defended him.

Kai kissed his teeth on the other side of the line. "Oh don't make excuses for him. I swear you're dating John and not me." He teased her. Adeline's cheeks flushed at the comment. Yeah technically they were dating she just never thought about it as such. That was very exciting. "John would be nicer." She taunted him.

"Mhmmm." He dragged. "And he'd never ever say I was wrong." She proudly boasted. Kai laughed on the other line. "Mhmm I'm sorry to inform you he is still madly in love with his ex Adeline. Maybe in another lifetime you two were meant to be."
