We shall see if I can get a double ready! Still updating at 900

Kai had been going with the motions as the days rolled forward. He's gotten a lot better and the boys look at him sadly a lot less. He was being more social with his peers. He was feeling bad that they worried for him. They had nothing to worry about.

Kai would be fine. This just stung a lot more than it usually would. He had been getting by with distracting himself. He went to the powwow and spent the holidays with Otsi John and his girls and Reggie and his wife at his place.

But even with all those people he still knew he was missing something. Or someone. Honestly speaking gaslighting himself into being completely fine was not working for him like it usually did.

He hated to turn on the TV to see her face. He hated the updates on her success with  her love life, and he refused to go to the movies to see her film. It was apparently amazing. He heard it enough from clients and the radio.

Apparently Adeline's acting was unexpectedly phenomenal for her first film. Especially since thrillers and horror are very hard for new actresses to do so well in. He hated that he was still proud of the fact that her hard work had paid off. He just needed to move the hell on. He was trying to but it just wasn't working the speed he wanted it to.

Skylar had been coming by more often to keep him company. She came by last week and gave him a kind smile. He gave her the opportunity to say she told him so. But like she promised she didn't. She just gave him a much needed hug.

Skylar had been hanging out with all of them a lot more frequently. Reggie and John noticed too. And while they played nice and friendly they were really into her visits. Much to Kai's dismay he knew for some insane reason they preferred the company of Adeline. He could see it in their eyes and the way they talked to Skylar. They were a lot more gentle with her but with Adeline they didn't care what they said and they played pranks on her.

It should have been the opposite seeing as Adeline was the pampered celebrity and Skylar was the friendly mechanic.  But alas...

And he couldn't fault them for missing her. No matter how much he despised her he missed Adeline's outlandish comments. He missed her smile, he missed her scent, he missed her jokes, he missed her pretty eyes, he missed...her.

But he couldn't find it in him to forgive her for what she did. How badly she hurt him and now lives her perfect life as if he was nothing but a blip in her journey. He was angry with her and had to figure out how to get past it. And every day even though it was hard, it got a little better because he never had to see anything of hers.

He threw her chair in the garage away. He saw Skylar sit in it and he didn't know why but it just felt wrong. Seeing Adeline's name on it made it worse so he just tossed it all together. He packed up her stuff in his apartment as well. That was the hardest part. It smelled like her. He actually humored her and used her shampoo and conditioner just once. And she wasn't lying. It was a lot better than his. But he packed it up too. He would ask Otsi or one of the guys to drop it off at her place.

He has tried many times to work up the nerve to drop them off himself. But he couldn't. Especially not with seeing Jane cuddle the box of her stuff. Of course Jane had to fall in love with her too. He didn't want to see her. He didn't know what he would say or do if he saw her again. Just the mention of her got a strong emotional response from him no matter how hard he tried to suppress it. And for his own integrity and sanity he decided simply not to see her. She wasn't going to take the time to think about him so he didn't need to bother.
