Earlier than 900 reads but I finished the chapter so I thought to hell with it!
Enjoy!
Adeline stood outside of the door where the crowd of paparazzi was waiting for her. Her breathing shallow but calm. She didn't really feel much of anything right now. Amelie could tell that much. She just stared at her.
She stood behind her daughter with curiosity. They haven't spoke since they fell out four weeks ago. Adeline hasn't even breathed in her direction. Amelie has tried to instruct her how to conduct herself but she no longer had leverage. Adeline was accepting the engagement and hooked the Louis Vuitton position.
She was untouchable now. And while Amelie was happy Adeline achieved their dreams she was equally apprehensive because there was nothing she could say or do to guide Adeline in the right path. Adeline locked her out of her head officially.
Amelie couldn't help but think back to last month and that horrible man her daughter was seeing. She was mortified and embarrassed her daughter considered throwing her life away for that. But what continuously bugged her was how absolutely panicked and devastated Adeline looked that day. But she would be fine she's 30 she shouldn't be crying over boys. Let alone poor ones.
"Adeline-" She started to coach her but Adeline was already out of the door and the noise erupted.

"Adeline! Adeline show us the ring!" The paparazzi screamed to her. "When's the wedding?!"
"Who's on the guest list?"
The lights were flashing so much in front of her she could barely see but she was used to that. It came with the territory.
Adeline's fake smile was so perfect one would fully believe it. She dauntingly showed off her engagement ring with false pride. Everyone exclaiming about how amazing it was. Meanwhile it really felt like a ball and chain. The weight of the stupid thing was daunting.
It sparkled at her as if it was teasing her. Reminding her what her future entailed. The price she paid for her so called 'dreams' she supposed.
Adeline didn't speak to Amelie who hovered walking behind her. She didn't acknowledge a thing her mother quietly said to perfect this moment. She ignored her and went on her release tour happily. Because Adeline didn't care anymore. This was her life and she had to learn how to just accept it.
And she pretended very well she was having a good time. And if she stuck to her routine maybe one day she would reach being content.
She kept her self far from Franklin county for the past month. Very far. She didn't want any run ins with Kai. Because all this hard work she built to move on would come tumbling down. She had to focus. Her mother was right. She was always right of course. Adeline was just a silly girl even at this matured age to think that her life could've been sustainable. That she could have both things.
She hoped she'd be happy again. She really hoped she would. But right now through all her fake laughs and smiles and interviews she was so miserable.
She had been ignoring Dantia's calls. And ignoring her father's calls too. Her engagement came as a complete shock to her father but more so to Dantia. Dantia knew about Kai, Dantia knew how Adeline felt about him. And now for her to be engaged to some billionaire out of left field was extreme.
Adeline didn't want to deal with the constant questions. She knew neither of them would be happy with her.
She was fully ready to keep herself on the outskirts of every healthy relationship she had. She didn't deserve good people around her. She was her mother's daughter. She was just as wicked and vile as her mother. And she showed her ass this week surely.
