Addisons POV
D: I can't believe you, this is ridiculous
I can heard Derek yelling in his office, what is going on
D: stop crying Meredith you did this to yourself, it's exhausting constantly breathing for you, when you can't even be bothered to do it for yourself
Why is he yelling at Meredith the poor girls nearly drowned a week ago
M: I'm sorry Derek, I just I'm exhausted
I can hear her crying what is going on, I try to get closer
D: I don't care Meredith. That's it we are over I can't keep babysitting you
M: no der please
D: no! We are over, I can't deal with you anymore your too much work!
He yelled again, I saw the door fly open and Meredith run out,
A: Meredith
I tried to call after her but she didn't stop, I went to follow her make sure she was ok but Derek called for me
D: let her go Addison if she want to act like a baby that's her choice she doesn't need to be comforted like one and if you want her for a case then you can ask her tomorrow cause she finished half an hour ago
I didn't know what to say, how could Derek be this impatient with his girlfriend. I left to see if I could see Meredith I don't care what Derek had to say the poor girl was upset but by the time I reached the intern locker room she was long gone, crap. I hope she's ok, I've just got a bad feeling. I spot Cristina exiting the bathroom
A: Yang have you seen Grey?
C: no, she finished and she ran out a few minutes ago, she's gone.
She says,
A: ok thank you.
Great, I hope she's ok.
The Next Morning
Meredith's POV
Last night was awful, I finally tried to tell Derek about what happened at Elliot's Bay and I tried to explain to him how I'm feeling but all he did was yell at me. He told me the same thing my mother did that I was lazy and that I was too much to deal with. I mean maybe he's right, as I look at the clock I realise I need to get going or else I'm going to be late.
An Hour Later
Addison's POV
I've asked Bailey to put Meredith on my service but she's late, I'm worried about her. Suddenly I see a flurry of blonde hair run past me headed towards the intern locker room.
"Dr Grey," I call out and she freezes and turns to looks at me as she does I can see something off about her face but I can't quite tell what.
"Your on my service this week" I say softer than before,
"Ok I'm sorry I'm late," she respond looking down.
"It's ok just don't let ur happen again. Don't worry about rounds I have a patient in bed 104 can you please go get the chart and get familiar with the case?" I asked, and she nods before scurrying off again. I can't quite tell what's going on with her but I'm worried.
Once I'd finished rounds I make my way towards the room I'd sent Meredith to. It was a TTTS, twin twin transfusions syndrome, it was a rare condition and one I needed the most talented intern on which was by far Meredith.
"Good morning Dr Montgomery." Meredith greeted me as I entered the room. "The patient is stable no signs of distress." She continued.
"Thank you Dr Grey." I reply for turning to the patient. "How are you feeling today Lauren?" I asked, the patient and I talked for a bit with Meredith watching she seemed very interested and I was impressed by her knowledge of fetal-surgical knowledge. As we left the patient, I turned to her
"That was very impressive in there Dr Grey" I exclaimed
"It was nothing." Meredith replied looking down,
"Hey, are you ok?" I asked concerned
"I'm fine." She answered still looking down.
"Hey look at me," I coo, and she slowly lifts her head. As she did I could see bags under her eyes she looked exhausted. "That was impressive your knowledge of fetal medicine, is it an interest of yours?" I ask just trying to make conversation with her.
"No I just wanted to be prepared." She answered, looking down again
"Ok that's fine we'll it was impressive, her next lot of tests and scans don't need to be done for half an hour would you like to come grab some lunch with me?" I ask
"No, I've um I've got charting to do." She answered before hurriedly leaving. Crap, I pushed to hard I can tell something definitely wrong the poor girl looks exhausted and it's only the beginning of the day.
The next few days are pretty much the same, she's been on my service all week and we've got the big TTTS surgery today. I've been trying all week to get Meredith to open up but she won't, she just stays quiet, I can't complain about her she's an amazing surgeon and she obviously knows what she's doing but I'm worried. She had been late or nearly late nearly every day but I haven't said anything because I don't want to worry her. Every-time I try to get her to have a break she disappears and I normally find her either at the nurses desk charting or in an OR gallery studying. After another failed attempt to get her to have a break, I ran into Arizona.
"Hey Addie, everything ok?" She asked me clearly seeing the worry I was trying to hide on my face she knows me to well.
"Yeah, no, do you want to come grab lunch with me?" I ask and she nods, we quickly grab lunch before returning to my office. We much prefer to have lunch in either my office or her it's less chaotic then the cafeteria.
"What's going on?" She asks as I start eating my salad, I debate trying to lie but she'd see right through it. "Come on I've noticed you've been worried about something, and who better to share your worries with then your best friend?" She jokes, taking a bite of her burger.
"Fine I'm worried about Meredith grey." I answer, but Arizona just looks at me confused prompting me to explain a bit more.
"I.. she's been on my service all week and I'm worried about her something feels off." I continue, "she always quiet and never seems to take a break. Plus I saw her running out of Derek office the other day crying."
Arizona looks at me,
"So what are you going to do?" She asks, reaching over to wipe some salad dressing of my cheek.
"Thank, and I don't know, I'm worried about her but she hasn't shown any signs that I can report or anything it's just a feeling." I explain.
"Well you've got a surgery with her this afternoon don't you?" Arizona asked and nod,
"Well try to get some information out of her then she's in surgery she can't run away, then maybe you'll be able to figure it out." She reasons, smiling at me.
"Your right thanks Ari." I say smiling.
She was right I just had to talk to Meredith this afternoon.
