"Identify yourselves!"
That order came from Metal Sonic, leader of the Badniks and heir to the Robotnik line.
"Shadow the Hedgehog," Shadow spoke first, "Sonic the Hedgehog and Emily Hedgehog. We're here for Sage's play date."
Metal glared at his master's enemies, then acquiesced.
"Enter." He groaned, opening the door to allow the Hedgehog family entry.

While the girls played, their fathers sat together in a separate room. Eggman sat at his desk, while Sonic and Shadow sat on folding chairs also in the room. For a few minutes, a rough silence fell over the three men, and a dense tension hung in the air.
"...Ok," Said Sonic, hoping to cut the tension, "I'll start. Eggman, we really need to talk."
"Great opening." Thought Shadow sarcastically.
"What about?" Asked Eggman, genuinely curious.
"Well," Sonic edged, "Sage and Emily have been getting along well since Starfall island."
"Yes, they have." Eggman agreed.
This was where Shadow decided to step in.
"Sonic wants to call a truce!" He announced, "He and I think that you two cannot be great nemeses if our daughters are going to be friends."
"I understand." Said Eggman simply.
"Look, Eggy, it's not that I don't dislike yo—" He paused to process what the doctor said, "Wait, what?"
"You're both right," Said Eggman, "It'll get complicated if we stay enemies and our daughters stay friends, I was actually hoping this truce would be called two weeks ago."
"...Oh." Said Sonic, then he heaved heavily, "That's actually a massive relief, here I was thinking you'd be resistant to calling a truce!" He laughed, then turned to Eggman and said, "In that case, we're cool...Ivo."
"I guess so...Sonic."
The former nemeses shook hands and Shadow just sat and smirked. Then a banging was heard from somewhere in the lair.
"Little girls," All three thought as they stood from their chairs, "You can't leave them alone for five minutes, or something happens."
And the men ran off to seek their daughters.
