It seemed this place was meant to blind any outsiders. After Diyoza's death and Anders leaving with her, the group from Earth were held in what was too nice to be called a cell.
"Thank God for the Flame." Gabriel said, finally sitting.
Faye wished Echo would follow and sit as well, her pacing was making Faye nervous. Faye's body felt stiff from standing so still for so long, but she refused to sit and would not pace.
"Doubt they'd be serving us saji bowls in jail." Gabriel continued.
"How can you eat right now." Echo demanded.
"He can always eat." Octavia said, setting down her fork.
"Gabriel's right." Clarke said. She had sat silently at the head of the table, not moving for anything. "If they didn't believe Faye had the Flame, we'd be in cells." Clarke stood up.
"Where are you going?" Faye asked.
"To wake the others. It's time to go back to Sanctum." Clarke said as if they could simply walk out.
"Clarke, we're under house arrest." Gabriel reminded her. He folded his napkin onto the table and looked up at her.
"I'm aware of that. I'm also aware our leverage disappears the moment he puts Faye in front of that stone." Clarke reminded them all. She didn't doubt Faye, but lies like this one always faded quickly.
"So what are you gonna do?" Echo asked.
"Faye's gonna offer to do it, and then kill Cadogan." Clarke said, looking over at the girl who was rubbing her eyes.
"No, she's not." Faye shook her head, ignoring how she suddenly spoke in the third person. "I'm going to get you all back to Sanctum first, then offer to do it."
"Faye, they'll kill you." Octavia stood up.
"Those are both terrible plans." Echo stated. "You're not sacrificing yourself for us, and no one is killing Cadogan."
The white door opened and a group of men stood outside. "Make way for the Shepard."
The first to enter was a man who looked how Faye felt. His hair was overgrown with a shaggy beard. His clothes were torn and covered in melting ice.
Then four guards escorted the Shepard in.
"We need to talk." Faye said before Clarke could speak up. "I'm ready to help you. But only after my friends are..."
She had no chance to finish before she saw him. Cadogan stepped aside to let the last person enter the room.
Just like the other man, this one had overgrown hair and beard. He had the same deep eyes that Faye could almost see through.
It almost felt like Faye didn't want to believe it was him.
"Bellamy?" She almost didn't recognize the voice.
Octavia made a move towards her brother before guards were on the move to stop her, holding their weapons at the ready.
"How?" Echo gasped. Was he with them, they were protecting him from his friends. "We saw you die?" Didn't they know they missed him.
"It's hard to keep the Blake's down." Octavia said, letting tears fall.
Faye threw herself forward. They could shoot her if they wanted, she didn't care.
"Hold." The Shepard ordered. "She has the Key."
Faye kept a tight hold on Bellamy. She closed her eyes, pretending they were back on Earth, in Polis. Exactly how everything should be.
At the mention of the Flame, Faye was brought back to the present. "The Key is the Flame. They think it's still in my head." She whispered so quietly she could barely here it. "Say nothing."
She let herself fall away, knowing they still had a job to do. Everyone needed to make it off this planet, and she needed a new plan. Everyone was making it home.
"I hope that now you're ready to help us, Faye. Too much blood had been spilled." The Shepard said. Though he saw how she only looked at Bellamy, making her seem less threatening, but he knew not to believe she wasn't a threat. "Each death is a child of Earth who won't transcend. I'll give you time to reunite while we make preparations."
Faye nodded, she tried not to seem to happy. Everyone was alive. But then she saw Bellamy's eyes watching her, like he knew what was about to happen would crush Faye, but he said it anyways.
"My Shepard... There's something you should know. Faye doesn't have the Key. The Flame was destroyed."
It was bad enough Faye could feel her stomach drop. Maybe he had a plan. Maybe he knew what he was doing.
"I'm sorry." He didn't even look at her. Because he wasn't sorry to her and his friends. Somehow this Shepard had turned Bellamy against them.
How does this happen?
