The sunlight is assaulting my eyes and I groan as I get out of bed, cursing as I recognize the room I'm in.

Blade sits up, rubbing his eyes with a yawn as he reaches for me.

"Nope, thanks." I stand and adjust my rumpled clothes. If he touches me it's all over. I'll be putty in his hands.

"Dakota?"

I turn and look at the sleepy man, sheets pooled around his waist, naked chest littered with tattoos making me think unholy things about someone who doesn't even want me.

"I have no clue how I got here, if I'm honest." I sigh.

"You called me drunk as fuck and I heard the announcer in the back so I knew where you were. I picked you up. Are you hungover?" He throws the blanket off and stands. "Can I get you s-"

"I'm fine. I really don't get hungover." look anywhere except those boxers that don't hide a thing, dakota. Anywhere else. "Um." I clear my throat as I pull my eyes away. "Thanks for being a good friend and making sure I was safe."

Out the door, Kots. One, two, three steps.

"Dakota, can we talk?" His footsteps pad after me and straight to the bathroom where I close the door in his face. "I-"

"Need to piss then I'll be gone, sorry." I call through the door. I can hear him sigh on the other end, but I stay silent as I finish my business and cringe at the smudged girl in the mirror.

Okay, washing your face is at the top of the list, then.

I suds up my face, rinsing as I hear his footsteps echo to the other room. I hate how even his towels smell so good.

"Coffee?" He's standing with his hips against the counter, shirtless. Leaning. Fuck me, honestly. It simply isn't fair for one person to look so good.

"You're thinking out loud again." Blade's smile tugs at the corner of his mouth and I hate him even more.

"Whatever." I search the ground for my belongings. "No coffee, thanks. Where's my other shoe?" I'm like a fucked up cinderella.

"I'm not sure, you were passed out when I carried you in. Might still be in the truck. Did you want me to-"

"Forget it." I shake my head before he can finish his sentence. "I'll text Keils."

"You don't want to talk about this?"

"You didn't want to the other day, friend."

He blows out a breath. "Will you stop saying it like that? Those were different circumstances, you were working June was-"

"Why did you do that?"

"What?" He looks confused at my frown.

"Why did you bring her into my work? Why did you want to see me if you were still going to do this whole thing?"

"What do you mean the whole thing? I-"

"No, Blade. Honestly I'm just exhausted." I run one hand through my tangled hair.

"You can go back to sleep, I don't have to go into work for a couple hours?" He offers. "And I thought you wanted to meet June, I don't-"

"I wanted to meet June when I thought we were something, Blade. You acted like you wanted me. You say I'm yours."
