"I have grown many plants in the underworld, I have a garden actually" I explained
Poseidon let out a chuckle, seemingly impressed by me.

"That is very... incredible" Zeus said
"Yes, it is" Hera agreed, a little more interested in the conversation
"This does not change anything, marvel at her abilities" Mother waved off
"But let me take her home, where she belongs" she went on angrily

I sunk back into myself
Why could she not just be happy for me?

"It does change things Demeter, whether you like it or not you have to accept that your daughter is a woman now, not a child and not a fool. She can make her own mind up, and she has decided to stay with Hades. So... what can we do to resolve your issues?" Zeus asked

"My issues?" Mother asked, eyes falling into slits, glaring at Zeus
"My daughter is ripped from her home and her life, confined to the company of that... that demon... yet I am the one with the issue? Do you not see how wrong this is?" She shouted

"Mother" I tried, standing up
"Hades has given me the choice to leave. He tells me I have freedom if I wish it. And I am telling you, that I want to stay with him. I... I love him" I said determinedly

She tutted, looking away
"You do not even know what love is" she said
"I do. I know love because you have shown me nothing but love my entire life. And I love you too mother, very much, but I also love Hades. And I wish to remain with him" I said, keeping hold of his hand, pulling it up to rest on the table

She looked at our hands, before her eyes caught the ring
"And... I have agreed to marry him" I said
"You what?" Poseidon choked on his drink
"Marriage?" Zeus questioned

Hera began to laugh, whilst mother sat silently, staring at my hand
"Yes. If you would please give me your blessing, I would like to marry him" I said to Zeus

He thought for a moment, throwing a look to Hera that made her quiet down
"And I suppose my say makes no difference in that either" mother mumbled

"It does. I would like your blessing too, but I am doubtful that you will grant me it" I said
"You always were a smart child" she said, standing up

"This is foolish and this is time wasting. Zeus. Make a decision" she demanded
"I did. You refused it" he said
"Because it is impractical. Never seeing my daughter again? Her conducting her work from the underworld? She will need to be above ground, I will need her help" she argued
