"Why did you stay?" He asked, once we were left alone
"Because I want to, I like being here... with you" I said, my nerves were a wreck defying Zeus
Defying my mother
Sat here as if I held any sort of actual authority.

And as that thought ran through my mind, and he neared me, I quickly stood up
I do not even know why I had sat there
"Please, sit back down" he said. And I obeyed
Looking up as he stood inches away, staring down at me, his hand reaching out to grasp my face

"You look beautiful in my throne" he said
"I- I am sorry I did-"
"Persephone" he silenced me, staring into my soul.

"Will you join me for dinner?" He asked
I nodded, like a naive lost girl, under the spell of a simple sweet boy
But we were not such a couple
We were a unworthy fallen disappointment, under the trance of the dark ungodly reaper.

"I would like that" I smiled. I craved to eat something, anything.
Mothers' words had barely even registered in my head as I got myself dressed up to dine with death

A dinner that seemed different to the rest
He had candles set out, curtains drawn, a small table that would let us be much closer than we had previously
It was a romantic scene

One that only amplified when he pulled my chair out and surprised me with a bunch of... daisies
"Where did you?..."
I was at a lost for words
"I went above ground whilst you were getting ready. Do you like them?" He asked, shifting nervously in his seat

It was sweet
To see so openly how nervous he was
That he was just as inexperienced as me when it came to... courting.

"They're beautiful" I said.
I did not always love a flower being picked from its place, pulled and ripped away from their stem, from their source of life
It felt unjustified to me
An unnecessary sacrifice
And yet so many used them as their love language

So many gifted them in an attempt to make their significant other smile
And Hades had done just that
And so I appreciated his thought.

"Please. Eat" he said. And I did just that
Days and days of fasting down here seemed frivolous as I devoured the many foods laid before me
"Are you... glad? That I stayed?" I asked nervously, my eyes focused on my food
"More than anything" he said, I looked up.

And regretted it immensely
Because I could not look away
The darkness he held captured my attention every time.

"I was thinking, tomorrow I could show you how things run here, there is more to the underworld than judging souls" he suggested
"That would be lovely" I said
"Good... good" he mumbled to himself, continuing to eat.
