Six months Time felt so fast when I was with Hades I suppose that is what love does to the soul... to time It slows everything down
And now... with my mother Six months have felt like a lifetime In three days I shall return to the underworld To my... home
And leave my mother once more "Kore!" And as much as I love my mother... the time cannot come soon enough now
"Yes, I am coming mother" I called back We were coming to the end of a harvest The worst one yet. And not because of the outcome But because of the attitude my mother was holding for me now
Everything I do is... wrong. Just not right in so many little ways that most would not pay mind to But mother does.
Now that I am a woman. Now that I do not live under her word, she is... temperamental More so than she used to be
"Here" I said, handing her the basket of seeds back She took it, her eyes flowing over my frame and settling in disappointment across her face before she went inside
I sighed. We had come to some sort of understanding three months in. But now... these past few days, now that I am leaving her again, she has changed
"Rough day?" I smiled, turning to see Hermes sat upon the garden wall. "Time for a chat? Or is she expecting you in bed by sun down?" He teased me
"I think I can stretch my bedtime for you" I said happily, leaving the garden altogether with him She does not dictate whether I come or go Not anymore
We settled ourselves in the meadow As I took a breath I had not noticed I was holding And he sat and repositioned himself over and over "Hermes. Are you alright?" I asked curiously
"I have something to tell you" he said "It is not Hades?" I asked worriedly Has something happened?
"No. No. I... I am not delivering news from someone. Only my own" he said "Go on" I urged He took his own breath "I am to be married" he said
Married? To another person? Hermes? "Since when?" Was all I could ask
Every time I saw Hermes, he told me of his latest conquest I had no inclination that he was to be married to anyone
