Jennie always loved going to school.

But rarely, maybe never, did she go to school with a smile as wide as today's. She tried extra hard to make Lisa's lunch, when she greeted Jisoo she hugged her harder than usual, and maybe stared at Lisa too long and too often.

Not because she liked Lisa, of course.
Well, yes, she liked Lisa.
Lisa was funny, and it was amazingly fun to spend the weekend with her. Going out with her. Listening to her laugh. Listening to her gush about cats and just being able to stare at her for an entire day.
And maybe, Jennie had to admit, she even liked Lisa enough to count her as one of her friends. Even if they still bickered and fought like little kids.

Jennie's mood got even better when she saw Lisa wearing a new shirt. One that Jennie had bought her two days before. Lisa grinned at her and winked when Jennie stared at the shirt.

Jennie's mood was so damn good that she let Lisa copy off her in math without saying a word. At least she knew that Lisa could theoretically solve the problems on her own. If she wanted to. Besides, Jennie was kind of happy that Lisa decided to copy from her...

"Jendeukie?"

Jisoo's voice sounded worried as she tapped Jennie on the shoulder and pulled her out of her thoughts.
Irene and Nayeon looked worried as well. Jennie blinked before grinning sheepishly.

"Did you say something?"

Irene shook her head.

"No. It's just..."

She watched Jennie, searching for the right word. Nayeon helped her.

"You seem unusually happy today. Did something good happen?"

she asked, smiling softly.
Jennie just blinked in surprise.

"I'm often happy!"

she defended herself, almost pouting.
Irene continued to stare at her.

"Mhm, maybe. But I've never seen you smile so dumbly,  like you just went through a brain amputation."

Jisoo started to laugh.

"Thank you Irene, you've hit the nail on the head!"

Jennie stared at her friends, stunned, then crossed her arms.

"How do I look?"

"Smug."

Nayeon said.

"A bit like you've switched off your brain and are still dreaming."

Irene said thoughtfully.

"Like Chaeyoung when she talks about food.",

Jisoo said, which made both Nayeon and Irene laugh.
Jennie scowled at her friends.

"Ha ha. Very funny."

"No, seriously. Did anything good happen over the weekend?"

Irene wanted to know.

"Did you have a date?"

Nayeon asked, grinning cheekily.

Jennie shook her head.

"No. Nothing."

Jisoo began to cough exaggeratedly.

"Liar."

Both Nayeon and Irene stared at Jisoo before looking back and forth between the two Kims in confusion.
Jennie huffed.

"It wasn't a real date."

"Why? Because she had to go on a date with you?"

"For example."

Jisoo laughed.
