"You live alone?"

Jennie rolled her eyes and dumped a good portion of salt to the pasta, then continued stirring the sauce.
It was a wonder how long Lisa's mind seemed to be stuck on the same subject.

"Not really, my parents are rarely home. Maybe, I'm not sure... about five days a month?"

Lisa continued to stare at her.

"That means you live alone."

"There's almost always a maid to clean or cook. Or both, it depends.",

Jennie explained and finally set a timer.

"The pasta will be ready in ten minutes."

"Is there a maid here right now?",

Lisa asked instead of responding to the change of subject, looking almost relieved.
Jennie had an inkling of what Lisa must be thinking.

"No, I gave her the day off this morning. We have the house to ourselves until tomorrow."

Jennie said, banishing all emotion from her face. Instead, she could see Lisa's face slowly turning pale. Jennie sighed and turned to Lisa, who was spinning restlessly in circles on the barstool.
She smirked, then looked seriously at the younger girl in front of her.

"Do you regret it? Asking if you could spend the night at my place?"

Lisa shook her head quickly.

"No. I mean, the food smells amazing already. I just..."

She swallowed and stared down at her hands.

"I don't think I would have asked if I knew we were alone...",

she confessed meekly.
Jennie smiled.

"What's the problem, Lili? It's our third date already!"

Lisa laughed, overwhelmed.

"I still didn't expect to be alone with you all the time! This is something completely different."

Jennie smile turned to a grin.

"Why is that? What would happen to us alone when my parents aren't home?",

she asked in a hushed voice, locking eyes with Lisa for a few seconds, then turned away.
Lisa could only see her back and had no idea how red Jennie's face was. At the same time, Lisa was completely unable to answer.

What should she say?
She couldn't just blurt out that she could... kiss Jennie, wanted to kiss Jennie, could she? Not to mention other things. She would have to explain why that was possible in her mind, and Lisa would hardly be able to say that something like that could happen by accident. It already sounded funny enough unspoken.
She didn't want to expose herself to Jennie unnecessarily.
Above all, she didn't want to be rejected if it slipped out that she liked Jennie.

Jennie, on the other hand, hoped that Lisa didn't realize that she had tried to flirt with her.
Accidentally!
She hadn't planned it, the comment had just... slipped out. But as she spoke, she had slowly realized how sexual it actually sounded.
Help.

They both fell into an embarrassed silence, Lisa finally listening to the music while Jennie finished cooking.
Then she prepared the food and smiled at Lisa.

"Where do you want to eat?"

Lisa was relieved that the awkward atmosphere seemed to be over.

"Where can we eat?",

she asked.
Jennie shrugged.

"Wherever you want. At the dining table, on the couch in the living room watching some movies, outside by the pool, in my room, on the roof terrace..."
