One of the advantages of gaming a little too much was that Jisoo was now used to dragging herself to school dead tired.
And unlike usual, she had even gotten a few hours of sleep last night.Compared to Jisoo, Jennie felt much worse, even though she did her best not to let on.
She lay awake in bed most of the night, listening to Jisoo's sleeping sounds, and couldn't stop thinking about Lisa.In the morning, she forced down half a liter of unsweetened black coffee, hoping the caffeine would enable her to attend class. With the coffee no longer helping, Jennie could only hope that her acting skills would be enough.
Jisoo had to listen to Jennie's somewhat slurred, worried chatter during the drive to school. Before the two girls got out of the car, however, Jisoo grabbed the younger girl by the sleeve.
"Jendeukie. I'll talk to Chaeyoung, I promise. If we're lucky, she hasn't told Lisa yet, and then I'll ask her to hold off, okay? And I can ask her about Jackson too."
Although Jisoo said it, she didn't really believe that Chaeyoung hadn't told Lisa about their relationship yet. But when she saw Jennie's hopeful block, she didn't have the heart to dash her hopes.
Instead, she sighed."I've really never seen you like this. Are you sure you haven't been replaced?"
Jennie rolled her eyes and got out of the car.
"You're exaggerating. I'm acting like I always do.",
she claimed.
However, during the break, Jisoo could see Jennie marching up to Lisa a little too happily and handing her a lunchbox. When Jennie noticed Jisoo's amused look, she just snorted and turned away.
Jisoo sat down next to Chaeyoung."Did I hear wrong, or did Lisa just call her 'Nini'?",
she whispered into her girlfriend's ear, who shook her head giggling and smiled at Jisoo with bright eyes.
"You didn't hear wrong. Jennie even calls Lisa 'Lili'."
she whispered back, smiling as she took Jisoo's hand. Then she looked worriedly at Jennie.
"Didn't you spend the night at Jennie's?"
"Yeah, why do you ask?"
Chaeyoung thought for a moment.
"Jennie already looked tired yesterday, but it's worse today.",
she mumbled.
Jisoo nodded immediately."She's pretty busy with the stalker thing right now, we were up until at least two o'clock."
Rosé widened her eyes and gently squeezed Jisoo's hand.
"Baby, I don't want you to stay up so late.",
she whispered, quietly enough for no one else to hear. Jisoo's heart skipped a beat and she quickly waved it off.
"Don't worry, I'm fine. I'll just catch up on my sleep later. I'm just worried about Jendeukie..."
She squinted at Jennie, who had her full attention on Lisa, and sighed softly. Both girls seemed to have eyes only for each other, and didn't even realize it. Jennie's entire character seemed to have changed completely; the normally rather snappy, cold and slightly perfectionist student representative blushed in Lisa's presence and had to constantly suppress a grin. In front of Lisa — Lisa of all people — the irrepressible tigress became a tamed kitten. At least Jisoo finally understood why yesterday.
"Let's go somewhere else where we can talk in peace. I need to ask you something.",
she asked Rosé and walked over to Jennie.
Then she took her lunchbox without any shame.
