September passed exceptionally quietly. Nature began to change its colors from lush and vivid summer green to warm and enveloping hues of orange, yellow and red.

On the horizon, October was knocking on the door, announcing its arrival, and with it's one special date...

It was Sunday.

Even though it was the weekend, Seiji's alarm clock went off quite early in the morning.

Hearing an annoying beeping sound from his phone, Seiji swiped the screen reflexively to silence it.
He stretched and yawned as he got up, opening his eyes for a new day.

Seiji quickly glanced at his phone, seeing the date.

October 20, 20xx

Time - 8:00 am

"It's today... I better get ready," he muttered to himself, his voice calm and calculated. He knew what needed to be done and began preparing for the day efficiently.

Seiji noticed Hideaki still asleep on the couch, snoring lightly. 'Good, he's still asleep. Gives me a little more time to prepare,'  he thought, moving quietly to avoid waking him.

He tried not to make loud movements so as not to wake Hideaki from his sleep. He didn't want him to see what he was doing - the grand breakfast.

After some time, breakfast was ready. The smell of creamy scrambled eggs served with white rice, miso soup, and grilled salmon floated in the air. The dish was quite large. Seiji deliberately made more, knowing Hideaki's appetite. Now all he had to do was wait for the killer to wake up.

When Hideaki finally stirred and sniffed the air, Seiji observed him closely.

"What's that smell?" Hideaki asked, rubbing his eyes lazily.

"Good morning. I see you're up," Seiji said evenly, his eyes scanning Hideaki's reaction.

Hideaki yawned and stretched. "Y-yeah... I slept well today," he mumbled.

"Glad to hear it." Seiji replied with a brief nod. He kept his expression neutral but felt relief that the day was starting smoothly.

"Is this for me?" Hideaki asked, eyeing the food.

"Yes. Since today is... special. Consider this the beginning of your surprise."

"Surprise?" Hideaki's excitement was instantaneous, his eyes lighting up.

Seiji raised an eyebrow. "Don't get too excited. I won't spoil anything for you."

"Awww..." Hideaki pouted, but Seiji was unmoved.

"Go get cleaned up and eat. We've got a long day ahead," Seiji instructed.

Hideaki rushed to the bathroom, clearly eager for the rest of the day's events.

Once Hideaki returned, they sat down for breakfast. Seiji ate methodically, his movements calm and deliberate, while Hideaki devoured his meal with enthusiasm.

Seiji's thoughts wandered as he watched Hideaki eat. 'Is he just hungry, or does he really enjoy this that much?'  He didn't dwell on it long, focusing instead on finishing his own plate.

After a while there was nothing on the plates.

"Mmmmmm....."Hideaki looked satisfied, licking his lips with his tongue.

A light smile appeared at Seiji's face as he witness satisfied reaction of his friend.

After they finished, Seiji began washing the dishes.
