Another week had arrived, and Seiji found himself occupied at his workplace, while Hideaki followed his usual routine of staying at the apartment.
Feeling bored and uncertain about how to pass the time, the killer decided to switch on the TV. It was then that he came across a news broadcast that caught his attention.
Among the routine updates, one story stood out.
"Over the past weekend, law enforcement made a chilling discovery in the case of Soma Ayase, a 26-year-old criminal known by the alias 'Pixie.' Ayase, whose Magic Ability allowed her to steal others' Abilities, was notorious for her involvement in black market organ trafficking. Authorities found her dead in her hideout, her head brutally severed from her body. In addition to her remains, illegal weapons were recovered at the scene, hinting at her broader criminal ties.
Police had been working for months to track down the elusive Pixie and dismantle her operation, but her violent death has shifted the focus of the investigation. Fingerprints were found on one of the weapons, and investigators are now working to identify the individual responsible for her gruesome end. The case has entered a new phase as authorities aim to solve this mystery and bring those involved to justice. Updates are expected as the investigation unfolds."
The TV presenter swiftly transitioned to the next segment of the news, leaving Hideaki trembling with fear.
"The... th-the police... they'll find me... I'll be arrested! THEY'LL FUCKING THROW ME BACK IN JAIL!!!" Hideaki's breath quickened as panic overwhelmed him, and he frantically reached for his phone, sending an urgent message to Seiji.
Hideaki: "THEY SAID ABOUT THAT BITCH IN NEWS!!! I WILL BE FUCKING DOOMED!!!!!!!!"
Seiji had been quietly working when the sudden buzzing of his phone pulled him from his focus. Hideaki's frantic messages appeared on the screen, filled with fear and panic over the news report about Pixie's murder investigation. He corrected his recently bought monitor glasses - using them only when working on computer, his brow furrowed as he read through the chaotic texts.
Letting out a long sigh, Seiji typed a calm response, "What are you talking about? Slow down and explain."
Hideaki growled frustraited at Seiji's ignorance "THAT PIXIE BITCH GOD DAMNIT! They said they're investigating her place and they're about to find out who killed her!!! (*﹏*;) And now they're coming after me!!! I DON'T WANT TO END UP IN JAIL AGAIN!!!!!!! HELP MEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (ᗒᗩᗕ)"
Seiji sighed again, this time with more frustration. 'He's completely losing it,' he thought.
Ken was doing his part of the job in the meantime. Noticing Seiji's change in mood he turned to him, "What's going on?" he asked.
"Well... They're investigating Pixie's place." Seiji answered.
Ken, seeming unbothered, nodded. "Oh... yeah, I saw that in news this morning."
Seiji raised an eyebrow, surprised by the news. "You did?" He hadn't expected that.
"Yeah."
"Ken... Did you..."
Ken shook his head "Nope. I didn't report that to police. You asked me to not do it, so I listened to you."
Seiji glanced back at Hideaki's frantic messages, his brow furrowing. "So someone's reported it. But who?" He tapped his fingers on the desk, going over the potential witnesses. 'Rika had been there - she'd known enough.' He recalled her face at the end of the day, the way she had looked at them as they left the scene. 'She hadn't seemed like she'd head straight to the police... but maybe? Or had someone else gotten involved?'
