"Well uhm it looks great Violet," I told her as she stood on my porch.
Violet had just gone to the beauty salon and got a really different haircut than normal. I had barely been home from work and she called telling me she was popping by.
It was a long bob cut and she had gotten highlights.
"I feel like a different person," she remarked all happy.
I smiled at her.
"Out with the old and in with the new," I told her as she gave herself a twirl.
"Yes I'm so excited to show everyone at the AA meeting tomorrow," she told me.
"They probably won't even recognize you," I told her.
"Oh my god true. I could go in under an alias," she commented.
"That would be fun," I remarked.
"Anyways I just wanted to stop by and show you my new look so you didn't freak out tomorrow," she told me.
I smiled.
"Okie dokie," I told her as she went in for a hug.
"See you tomorrow," I told her as we separated.
And so, Violet was back on her way. It was a different look she had gone for. I think it was metaphorically cutting off her old self.
Around 4, Andy came over. He and Sam would be staying the night the next two. With August almost ending, Andy and I were almost at the 6-month mark.
Sam knew the house already and ran up the stairs of the porch.
"Hi darling," Andy greeted me as he kissed me.
"Hi how are you?" I asked as we walked inside.
"Good good darling," Andy remarked as he took his bag to my room.
He quickly rejoined in the living room. A lot of things were finally picking up the pace. I was glad to see that Andy wasn't afraid anymore. I wasn't either. We had of course our moments like the one at the Fairmont but the rest of the time was pretty much picture-perfect.
"So how have things been?" Andy asked as he wrapped his arms around my lower waist.
"They've been good. Just to warn you, you may not recognize Violet tomorrow," I told him.
He looked at me confused.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"She cut most of her hair off and got highlights. She looks good don't get me wrong but it was just strange to see her do something drastic to her appearance," I told him.
"That's understandable well hopefully I recognize her," he joked as we separated.
"Right did you want something to drink?" I asked him.
"Water will be fine," he told me as he sat down on the couch with Sam at his feet.
I disappeared to the kitchen and got us both water.
"Here we are," I came out with two glasses of water.
"Thank you, darling," he told me as he took the glass of water from me.
"So how have things been? I know Barry said you guys might be working on new music?" I asked Andy.
"Yeah yeah, they are going to the studios in January to work on their new album. So I'll probably be in Miami off and on next year working on my own material. They plan on working next month on some of their material at Maurice's house," he commented.
I got sad sort of. I couldn't do long distance.
"Oh well that should be nice," I told him as I adjusted on the couch.
I guess my energy was felt.
"Darling," he commented after a second.
"What?" I asked him.
"You look like I hit you with a ton of bricks about the news about Miami," he remarked.
I sighed.
"Well yeah I mean you being away for days or weeks at a time that might as well," I started saying but cut myself off.
I remembered what Violet said prior to Andy and I becoming official.
"Don't leave a bad taste in his mouth," I heard Violet's voice in my head.
Andy just looked at me.
"I mean you could go out there with me over the weekends," he told me.
"Yeah I know that's true it's just my job and also the problem as well is I get off early on Fridays so flying out Friday nights and only having Saturday to be with you will be difficult," I told him.
"It'll work out somehow darling I promise. I don't want us to," he remarked.
"Don't say it please," I told him.
"I won't," he told me.
I sighed. I knew the picture-perfect love wasn't going to last.
"But to be truthfully honest, it probably won't really work out for me to work on music. If I know my brothers, this album will take up most of their time," he remarked.
"I'm not gonna stop you from working on music love. You want to launch your comeback album," I told him.
The remark I made reminded me of last year's Lifetime interview. He had talked about it last year about going into the studio and he did with Barry but not much was done if at all material-wise.
"We will just cross the bridge when next year comes," I told him.
"Yeah good idea darling," Andy remarked as he reached to hold my hand.
I put the conversation in the back of my head. I tried to focus on what was in front of me.
