"Okay, everything is in the oven. Dinner will be ready early around 3," I announced to my parents and Andy in the living room.
It was a little before 9 and we were waiting on Andy's parents and sister. Violet and Grandma would be by around 11.
"Sounds good darling," Andy remarked as he was zoned out on the "Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade."
"Honey is there more coffee ready?" my mom asked.
"Yes mama. I can get you some more," I told her as I grabbed her coffee mug.
"Thanks honey," my mom said as I disappeared to the kitchen.
As I fixed up her another cup of coffee, I could hear my parents and Andy talking faintly.
"You know she hasn't been this happy in years. We thank you for being patient with her. We know also that she loves you a lot and we are glad you two met," my mother said.
Andy was quiet for a second.
"Hearing that from you makes me even more sure about us. I didn't know love was possible again till I met her," he told my parents.
I was really taking my time with the cup of coffee so I made myself one, so it didn't look too suspicious.
"I know you are healing still Andy, and we understand that. Just know that we are also here for you even if we are a thousand miles away in Canada," my mom told him.
I got the cups of coffee finished and headed back to the living room.
"What did I miss?" I announced as I walked in.
They looked at each other and paused.
"Oh, the parade floats," my mom retorted.
"I see what was on. Was it a good one I missed?" I asked.
The three of them just looked at each other not knowing what to say.
"Crystal Gayle was singing," my mom remarked.
I glanced at the TV and then back at them.
"Has she been singing that long?" I asked, pointing at the TV.
"Uhm yeah," my mom replied.
My dad and Andy just kept looking at each other.
"Okay then anyhow," I remarked trying to change the subject.
It was funny because I knew what they had been talking about and my heart was so full.
"Soooooo," my dad awkwardly remarked.
"Yes?" I asked him.
"Even though I am now a full Canadian. I do pay attention to football here still in America. So, who is playing today?" my dad asked.
"Good question I have no idea," I remarked as I grabbed the newspaper.
Andy disappeared down the hall to the bathroom.
I went to the sports section and finally found it was the Lions vs the Packers.
"It's the Lions vs the Packers dad," I told him.
"Can we watch the game?" he asked.
"Of course, though I don't know anything about sports," I remarked chuckling.
My mom and dad both laughed.
"Even after all these years, you don't know anything about it?" my mom asked me.
"Nope not a clue. I know the word touchdown and field goal but that's about it," I replied as Andy joined us back in the living room.
"Now what did I miss?" Andy asked teasing me from earlier.
I giggled.
"Just sports talk. Were gonna watch the game later," I told him.
"Who's playing? Though I really don't know sports either except tennis," Andy replied.
"The Lions and Jets," my dad said.
I shook my head.
"No no the Lions vs the Packers," I corrected him.
Andy laughed.
"I thought I was bad but man," he joked.
My dad laughed at Andy's comment.
"He's a keeper kid," my dad told me.
I smiled at the comment.
"So Violet and Grandma will be here at 11?" my mom asked changing the subject.
"Yes, and then we won't eat till 3 because they want to leave by 6 so they can take a cat-nap and hit the Black Friday sales," I explained.
"And my parents and sister should be driving up soon," Andy expressed.
"What time does the game kick-off?" my dad asked.
"Uhm," I remarked as I glanced at the paper.
"It should be after the parade is over," Andy commented.
"Yeah, it is. At 12:30 dad it starts," I told him.
"Okay then it should be about half-way through by dinner then," my dad commented.
"Hey darling here," Andy commented.
"What is this?" I asked him.
It was a little box.
"Just something I had gotten for you for our 6 months, and it barely came in two days ago," he remarked.
"You got me this and the Tiffany bracelet you shouldn't have," I remarked.
My mom and dad both got super quiet and just watched the two of us. I felt like I was in a movie.
"I wanted to. Plus, just consider it an early Christmas gift," he told me.
I opened it and it was the gold heart earrings I had been wanting for months. Andy always remembered the little things.
"Andrew you shouldn't have," I remarked.
"I remembered you saw them in New York and hoped someone in LA would have them or something similar," he told me.
"My goodness it looks like she has a hanger in her mouth," my mother teased.
I chuckled as I took them out of the box and put them on.
"How do they look?" I asked as I tucked my hair behind my ears.
"Pretty as usual," Andy commented as he kissed my forehead.
"Thanks," I remarked chuckling.
What a wonderful Thanksgiving it would be. I was grateful in more ways than one.
