"Y-you kissed me?" I asked Andy as we stood there in the New Year.

Andy chuckled.

"And?" he asked.

"W-why did you do that?" I asked him as we stood there.

Everyone else was carrying on with each other.

"Did you not like it?" Andy asked me.

"No. I mean yes. I mean," I replied flustered.

"Happy New Year," Andy told me.

"Happy New Year Andy,"  I told him.

The party quieted down and Andy was the last to leave.

Violet was staying over the night so she had disappeared upstairs to get ready for bed.

"Thanks for coming to the party," I told him as I walked him to the door.

I probably had crimson all over my face.

He smiled.

"Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," Andy replied as I opened the door.

I smiled at him.

"Have a safe drive home," I told him as he walked out to the porch.

"Thanks see you later," he remarked as he walked to his car.

I slowly shut the door and leaned against it.

Violet came down the stairs around the same time.

"D-did he barely leave?" Violet asked as she headed to the kitchen.

"Yeah," I remarked quietly.

"Wait why are you so smiley?" Violet asked as she paused before entering the kitchen.

"You didn't see what happened?" I asked her as she looked at me.

"What did I miss?" Violet asked as she walked up to me.

"At midnight," I began.

She nudged me.

"Andy kissed me!" I told her.

Violet's eyes went wide.

"What?" Violet remarked loudly.

"Yes," I replied.

"Dude are you serious?!" Violet remarked as she followed me around cleaning up the cups and stuff.

"Yes I'm serious it happened so fast I couldn't even process it," I told her as I gathered the trash bag.

Violet made me stop and grabbed the trash bag from me.

"You are telling me, (Y/N), Andy Gibb kissed you," Violet replied again.

I chuckled as she looked at me crazy.

"Yes," I replied.

"Andy Gibb kissed you dear lord what a way to end the old year," Violet remarked.

"Maybe it's the start of something new Violet," I told her as I wiggled out of her grasp and headed upstairs to get ready for bed.

She followed me back upstairs.

"Girl, how was it? Spill the deets," Violet asked.

I laughed.

"It was good I mean I haven't had a lot of kisses in my life but it was good," I told her as I went to brush my hair out before hopping in the shower.

"Good? That's it?" she asked.

"He was very sweet that's all. It was one kiss," I told her.

"Sweet?" she replied.

"Stupid Cupid, stop picking on me," I told her.

"Oooh that wasn't what I thought you would reply to me with," Violet chuckled.

"It was just a kiss Violet. I do not want to hear any more about it,"  I told her before I walked across the hall to the bathroom to shower.

"I can't promise anything!" Violet shouted through the door.

I rolled my eyes as I jumped in the shower.

After getting ready for bed, Violet was quiet for the most part.

Before we went to bed for the night, as we came up the stairs from the kitchen with water, she brought up the Andy thing one more time.

"Did you talk about it with him?" Violet asked.

I groaned.

"I'm sorry but like my best friend may be entering a new relationship," she told me.

"Yes we talked about it briefly but again Violet, it was just a kiss," I told her as she stood at the guest bedroom door.

"Okay fine that's the last question I had. Good night," she told me.

"Good night Violet," I told her chuckling.

And so, I settled into the New Year morning ready to go to dreamland. But, it was hard to because all I could see was Andy in my head when I closed my eyes.

Who knew if that kiss would lead to anything? I mean I did have those moments since he came into my life where Violet told me I crushed on him. But crushes are for high schoolers, right?  I tossed and turned for the first few hours. His face stayed as I closed my eyes to try and go to sleep.

Morning came which was actually a little after 12. Violet was still sleeping when I snuck downstairs to make some coffee. Today would feel so long.

I got my cup of coffee after a while and made my way to the living room. The house was quiet except for Violet's snores every once in a while.

I sat in front of the TV looking to find a conclusion to what my life held for 1986. Would it be what I was expecting?
