"Welcome to Florida, darling," Andy remarked as we walked down the stairs of the plane.

For being mid-afternoon, I felt the heat surround me.

"You said Barry and Linda were waiting here to pick us up?" I asked him as we followed the line of people to the luggage area.

"Yes they should be already here," he told me.

I had only met Barry once.

"I don't know how I feel about the humidity," I remarked as we waited for our luggage to come through the luggage carousel.

Andy laughed.

"Well get used to it darling for the next 10 days," he told me as we grabbed our luggage off the carousel.

"I will," I replied chuckling.

Then, came the nerve-wracking part: looking for Barry and Linda.

I was a grown adult yet meeting someone else's family was still jittering.

"Did they say where they'd be?" I asked Andy before we walked to the outside of the airport.

"They should be out in their car waiting," he told me as he grabbed my hand.

"Okay," I replied as we walked to the front of the airport where tons of cars were waiting.

Then, we heard a honk from the right side of us.

They were waiting like Andy said they would be.

"Here we are," Andy remarked as we walked to the car.

The Florida sun felt different compared to Califorina.

"Hello hello," Linda greeted us as she opened the trunk for us.

"Hi," I remarked.

"It's so nice to finally meet you," Linda told me as she extended her hand towards me.

"Likewise. I've heard so many things about you," I told her.

"I can say the same thing about you," she remarked chuckling.

Barry was still sitting in the car at this point.

"Are we ready?" Andy asked me.

"Yes, I think so," I told him as we shut the trunk and got in the back of the car.

"Well hello strangers," Barry commented as Andy and I got settled into the car.

We both chuckled.

"How are you?" I asked politely as Andy reached to hold my hand for the ride to the house.

"We are good how are you both?" Barry asked.

"We are good too," Andy replied with a smile.

The drive was mainly quiet to the house.

"You guys are here for 10 days?" Linda asked me as we pulled up to the house.

I got distracted by how pretty everything was. The palm trees, the gate. It was straight out of the movies.

"Y-yeah we are actually," I remarked distracted.

"We have a family dinner planned later in the week but for tonight we were thinking of ordering pizza?" Barry asked as we pulled into the driveway.

"That sounds good to me," I commented as Andy shook his head in agreement.

We parked and we got out of the car. It was weird standing in another state.

We walked inside and my goodness I was overwhelmed with how beautiful the house was.

"This way to your guys' room," Linda remarked as we walked upstairs with her.

Of course, Barry and Linda's kids were running around like typical children.

"We will introduce you to my sons later," Linda told me chuckling.

I chuckled and smiled.

"Here we are," Linda opened the door to the guest room.

"Thank you," I told her.

"I'll have some snacks ready downstairs when you guys are settled," Linda told me.

"Sounds good thanks Linda," Andy told her.

"I'll leave you two to it," she commented as she shut the door behind her.

"Good lord I feel like I'm in a hotel," I remarked as I looked around the room.

They even had a bathroom conjoined to the room. It was like our own mini-suite.

"Get used to it, darling. It's only just begun," he commented as we opened our suitcases.

"Well I'm trying to get used to it but it's not that easy," I told him.

Andy was fumbling through his suitcase and I heard metal hit the floor. He cussed under his breath.

"What was that?" I asked him.

I turned to see him holding a ring box and ring. It was the promise ring he had told Barry about a week ago.

"I was gonna wait till our actual anniversary but here darling. It's a promise ring," he commented as he held the ring out to me.

I looked at him and had no words. I never had that sort of old-fashioned love. And, I had no words. I was speechless.

"Andrew," I remarked as I held my hand out to him.

"It's not only a promise to you but a promise to us," he remarked as he put the ring on me.

I had a giant smile on my face. Was everything going too fast?

"Andy, I don't know what to say," I told him as he stood up from the luggage.

"You don't have to say anything. The look on your face says it all," Andy remarked as he wrapped me in an embrace.

The thing was, I knew it was coming I just didn't know when. Which now means, he made a promise to marry me.

"I love you and I feel like I don't say it enough," I told him as he stared at me.

"I love you too. To another thousand years," he told me as he gestured towards the ring.

I looked down and smiled. I wasn't much for words in moments like this. I never liked having attention all on me.

"Does your family know about this?"  I asked curiously.

"Yeah actually. Barry suggested I bring this as the anniversary gift but the universe had other plans and just let it fly out," Andy remarked chuckling

I laughed.

"I see that's funny how you said the universe decided for you," I told him as I took the moment and seized it.

I kissed him.

"That's your favorite way of thanking me, isn't it?" Andy teased.

I chuckled.

"No no, well, you know what I don't know," I told him as there was a knock on the door.

"Yes?" Andy hollered.

"Snacks are ready when you guys are," Linda commented as she popped her head through the door.

"Thanks Linda," I told her.

She disappeared back outside the door.

"It's going to be the best next year of our lives," Andy remarked randomly.

"I do agree honey," I told him as I kissed his cheek.

To a wonderful Florida trip.
