"So this is our Christmas bonus?" I asked Deja as we stared at the papers that had come in.
This year, the company sent out a Christmas bonus early for us to have before we went home for the holidays.
The Christmas bonus, which we all were hoping for money, was indeed not just money. It was also gift certificates to some restaurants.
"I really don't know why they couldn't give us the complete money bonus," Deja told me.
"So half of the bonus is the check and the rest is made up in the restaurant money for the certificates?" I asked.
"Yeah I mean I guess we will be eating good this New Year," Deja joked.
I laughed.
"Yeah I mean I suppose so," I remarked as she had me sign off that I collected my bonus.
Last year, we had some stealing which, included Ethan the old copyboy. So HR and everyone above our manager needed us to sign off.
"Just don't spend it all in one place," Deja teased.
I laughed.
"I won't," I replied as I went to my desk for the day.
One thing I liked about the office was during the holidays, we all seemed to be in the same mindset for the most part. We all were wishful and hoping for some sort of Christmas miracle.
The day went on rather quickly. With the daylight savings, I couldn't help but get so sleepy earlier in the afternoon.
I loved driving home and being able to see Andy. He was basically living with me most weeks especially in between shows or going to Florida. And since his house was further from the office, it was just more convenient for us to do things like this for now.
"Hi darling," Andy greeted me as I walked in.
He had hung mistletoe on every doorway.
I kissed him.
"How was your day?" he asked as we walked inside to the living room.
"I got my Christmas bonus," I told him as I took the envelope out of my purse.
"Oooh was it as big as you were hoping for?" Andy asked as we stopped.
"Well just look," I handed him the envelope.
He looked at it and analyzed the papers.
"Why the fuck did they give you guys restaurant certificates to cover the second half of the bonus?" he asked confused.
I chuckled. You rarely heard Andy cuss. And when he did, it just sounded funny with his accent.
"It's not funny darling why are you laughing? This isn't a good way to treat employees," he remarked.
I recentered myself.
"I wasn't laughing at that. It was when you dropped the f-bomb. It sounds funny with your accent," I told him.
Andy paused and chuckled.
"Oh. Well I am a bit angry so I feel like the word "fuck" was perfect," he remarked.
"See it sounds so funny with your accent," I told him as we walked to the kitchen.
I needed something to drink after a long day. All I wanted was a Diet Pepsi.
"You think it's funny when I cuss? Darling, have you not heard your pretty little sailor's mouth?" he asked teasing.
I rolled my eyes.
"I don't cuss like a sailor. I mean," I remarked as I paused to pour my drink into a cup with ice.
"Darling, some days you say the f-bomb and the word bitch every other sentence out that pretty mouth of yours," he retorted.
"Then you don't have to kiss this sailor's mouth anymore," I told him as I walked out of the kitchen.
"Wait no darling it's not, I was just teasing," he remarked as he followed me out to the living room.
I sat down in the recliner.
Andy was right behind me in the recliner.
"I was just teasing darling I'm sorry," he remarked as he came around the chair to sit next to me.
Whether or not he realized I was just play fighting that would be another story.
I sighed and didn't even look at him.
"Darling," he pleaded with me after a few seconds.
"I said you don't want to kiss a sailor anymore," I remarked.
"But I do. I mean not a sailor but I was just joking," he told me as I kept my lips pressed tightly together.
"I'm sorry," he pouted
"Are you?" I asked him.
"Yes, I was just joking darling. I am sorry. I love how free you are and don't care if you cuss," he told me.
"I was hoping you were teasing," I told him as I leaned over to kiss him.
After we separated, he looked at me.
"You were just teasing me back, weren't you?" he asked chuckling.
"Yeah, how did you figure that out so quickly?" I asked.
"Cause you get this certain look in your eye when you do," he told me as I looked down.
"I see," I remarked as I felt my cheeks turn crimson.
"Aw, you are blushing. That's cute," he teased once more.
"Shush," I remarked.
So, he stole another kiss or two from me.
"I think you like teasing me just to get a rile out of me," he remarked chuckling.
"Maybe," I told him.
"I love you," he told me as he kissed my forehead.
"I love you more," I told him.
A cozy little afternoon with my boyfriend.
