I stare at the countdown. I try to go over my plan in my head. Get my knives. Get John's bow and two strings of arrows. Get the hell out of there. Sounds like a pretty good plan to me. Finnick never told me to not go to the cornucopia because he knows I can do it. He knows I won't get myself killed in the first 10 minutes.
I look back to John and see him getting ready to run. I get ready to run too. I'm already hot, but it's not as bad as the one really hot summer we had in 4 one year. I worry about water though. How will I find water in a desert?
I look back at the countdown and it's at 10 seconds.

A buzzer sounds off in the arena signifying the start of the games. I rush off my platform and to the cornucopia. I'm one of the first there. I spot my knives and hook two belts around my waist, taking one of the careers weapon of choice.
I look around the cornucopia for a bow and the arrows. I spot them in the far corner. I run to get them until I feel a force push me to the floor.
I turn on to my back and realize it's the girl from 9. She's on top of me with a knife to my throat.
"Going to get that bow for your little friend over there who's struggling against Bill?" She says in a mocking tone. "Sucks that you got the best score and are going to be one of the first to die." As she's talking I look up and see a machete nearby. Before I go to reach that I try to get a knife from the belt I have around my waist, but she stops my hand by dragging her scythe across my forearm. I cry out in pain.
