"That's Cordelia Benham and Finnick Odair right?" ┊"Yes, She won he games at 16 in...
They've moved me back and forth from that room since the day of the interview. I don't even know how long it's been. All I know is I've had to watch the fake Finnick beat me over and over again. My heart knows that he is safe and that this is all fake, but my brain can't help but feel fear whenever his face is on the screen.
I just got finished with my last session in that room. They are dragging me through unknown hallways now. My heart jumps at the thought of being brought to yet another different place I haven't been to. We come to the elevator doors and it is empty when it opens.
I've never been downstairs before. Why are we going downstairs? Please, save me. I can't deal with the torture anymore.
The doors open before I know it and they drag me into yet another cell room instead this time I'm in the room with someone. The Peacekeepers that were dragging me before slammed the door behind them and left me alone in the room with this mysterious person.
"Hello?" I ask. "Who else is in here?" A subtle groan returns my question and suddenly the lights are turned on. "Peeta?" I rushed over to him. He looks so frail and beaten down. His eyes have sunken in and his cheekbones are more noticeable than the last time I saw him. I wonder if that's what I look like too.
"Cordelia?" He asks, looking up at me. His voice is just above a whisper. "What are we doing down here?" "I don't know." I answer honestly. "Maybe they will finally give us a break from the torture they've put us through."
"I hope. I can't stand watching another video of Katniss." He spits out her name. Like it's poison in his mouth. "She's a mutt made to kill all of us!"
"Woah. Calm down, Peeta." I say, trying to calm him down. "It's just what the Capitol wants you to think. They want you to think she's so dangerous because she is going against them to try and make a better life for all the victors."
"That's exactly what they want you to think! You've been brainwashed by them! Just think about how they have Finnick on their side!" I flinch at his name wanting nothing but to jump into his arms, but wanting to run away from him at the same time. "He's going to hurt you just like they say he has!"
"He isn't like that." I whisper, the tears in my eyes threatening to fall. "I think. I can't tell the fake memories from the real ones anymore."
"It's the same thing for me." He says and now it's as if the old Peeta never left. The same boy I met is sitting in front of me, just more tortured.
