FLASHBACK
Y/n pov
"Jungkook... your father." I was so close I could hear his mother's voice on the phone. He closed his eyes. I wanted to say something, anything, but words wouldn't come out. I just crushed him, wrapping him in my arms. He was so shocked he kept staying like that for a few seconds until Taehyung brought him into reality.
"What happened?" He asked, looking at me, seeing that Jungkook wasn't anywhere responsive.
"His father." I simply answered, shaking my head.
"Oh, Jungkookie." It was Taehyung's turn to be shocked. Jin and Jimin didn't say anything. They just gathered around him, holding him close.
"Y/n, I have to go." He said, looking at me, blankly. I kissed his hands and added.
"Of course, baby. Let me just tell my sister that I'm leaving and I'm coming right away."
"No, please, don't." He tried to stop me.
"Do you think I'd care about anyone that isn't you right now?!" I answered swiftly.
"Give me the car keys, I'm driving." Taehyung cut off the discussion.
"You're in no condition to drive." I said as he handed the keys to Taehyung without protesting. Then, I saw them leave, followed by Jin and Jimin. I looked around for my sister, only to come face to face with my father. Apparently, Namjoon had told him what had happened.
"I have to go." I said to him.
"Y/n, where the hell do you think you are going?" He tried to sound polite since there were people around.
"Jungkook's father just died. Where do you think I'm going?!" I huffed, stating the obvious.
"You better stay put. These people are here for you." They were staring at us argue and murmuring among them.
"Do you think I'd care about any of them?! The only person I care about right now is having one of the worst days of his life. Pardon me if I'm not in the mood to go along with your farce." My nerves were starting to give up entirely.
"I'm so disappointed in you, Y/n." He shook his head.
"Well, ditto! I'm disappointed in you, too. I knew you'd have a hard time accepting the fact that Namjoon and I weren't together anymore, and I bore with it, but this doesn't give you the right to decide for me." My sister was behind him, pulling him by the arm.
"Can't we just take the discussion at home, please?!" She tried to reason with my father.
"If she leaves with him, she better not show up at home." He threatened me with a smile on his face, answering my sister.
"Well, if this is want." I opened my purse and took out the house keys. "Here!" After leaving him dumbfounded, keys in hand, I ran to the parking lot, hoping they hadn't left yet. I looked around for Jungkook's car and finally spotted it. Considering I was wearing heels, I was walking pretty fast. At one point, I took them off and started running until I reached the car.
"I thought you left." I opened the door as I tried to catch my breath.
"Not without you." Jungkook answered. "I knew you'd be following after me."
"He kept saying to wait for you." Taehyung, who was in the driver's seat, answered me.
"Well, obviously." I sat in the backseat with Jungkook. He looked numb, almost lifeless. It probably hadn't hit him yet that his father was gone. The disturbing silence in the car was suffocating. No one was talking.
"I'm so sorry, my love. I wish I could take away the pain." I pulled him closer to me and held him in my arms. He wrapped his arms around me, like a small child looking for comfort, and finally started crying, breaking down completely. Taehyung started the engine, and the only sound echoing it was Jungkook's crying. After a while, we made it to the hospital. Jungkook was a mess. He stopped in front of the hospital door, trying to find the courage to get it. Taehyung and I were holding him one side each.
"I knew this would happen sooner or later, but I still wasn't prepared for it." Taehyung untangled his arm as Jungkook wanted to wipe his tears.
"There's no such thing as being ready for a tragedy like this. Whenever it hits, it always hurts the same." I tried to hold him as close as I could. As soon as his mother saw Jungkook arrive, she crumbled in front of him. For the first time, I started to feel pity about her. No matter how bad she behaved, she lost a person who had been her companion for so many years. I shivered at the thought of something like that. Then, she noticed us walking behind Jungkook. We paid our condolences, and she simply nodded, muttering a muffled thank you. They both went inside for the procedures while we were waiting in the hall, staring at each other without muttering a word until Namjoon decided to break the silence.
"Guys, I'm waiting for you downstairs. I don't feel like staying here any longer." I looked at him but didn't say anything. We just saw him leave. Right then, the door opened, and Jungkook came out. His face was swollen from all the crying.
"I need to go wash my face." He said as he patted my back. I wanted to follow him, but then I thought he might want a few minutes to himself. We were just hanging out in the hall, not knowing what to do.
"Y/n, let us take you home." Taehyung said as he saw me yawn.
"As of today, I'm officially homeless." I answered, chuckling nervously.
"You what?!" I hadn't realized Jungkook was behind me.
"My father told me that if I ran after you, I better not get back home." I shrugged it off, not wanting to worry him further.
"It's settled then. You're coming home with me." He pulled me in his arms, not knowing how much I needed it.
"Y/n, you can stay at our place if you want. You're always welcome." Said Taehyung while patting my back. Jin nodded behind him. Namjoon was probably waiting for them in the car.
"No way she's going to stay anywhere else that isn't where I am. We wanted to move in together, sooner or later, anyway." He said casually, making Taehyung and Jin stare at each other.
