California Christmas

Ethan and Lex had been together for a few years now. He loved her with all his heart, and he wanted to give her the perfect Christmas this year.

He knew Lex hadn't had the best Christmases in the past, with her alcoholic mother never being there for her, so now that she had finally gotten away from that woman, he wanted this year's holiday to make up for all the past ones.

The one problem was that he had no idea what to do. He thought maybe he should subtly ask her.
"Hey, babe, if I was going to possibly get you a not real Christmas gift, what would be your ideal not real gift?" He asked. Nailed that! He thought to himself. Lex looked up at him, kind of confused.

"Eh. Whatever. I don't care."
"Oh. Um. Nothing? There's... nothing you want?"
"I just don't care. Anything's fine. What should we get Hannah?" Realizing he wouldn't get a specific answer out of her, he decided to move on to the next topic.
"Maybe movie tickets?"

Lex looks at him "Maybe..."

A few hours later Ethan was scrolling through Amazon finding nothing she would like. He sighed knowing he wouldn't find anything she would like that he could buy.

On Christmas day after Hannah had fallen asleep (which took a much shorter time now being in California) Lex and Ethan laying tough on the couch.

"I'm sorry I couldn't find anything nice enough for you." Ethan said quietly.

"It's alright I'm used to it. Honestly just being here in California with you and Hannah is more than I could ask for."
