Ted sat, alone, in Beanies, his chai iced tea held in his hands. He stared down at the drink, completely oblivious to the rest of the going ons around him.
He'd only come to Beanies because of the elusive Latte Hatte, but she wasn't in today. Apparently she had a rehearsal at the Starlight theatre, so it was that crabby barista serving drinks.
His mind suddenly snapped back to reality, as a man who looked no older than Ted, practically jumped into the seat opposite him. The newcomer was dressed head to toe in yellow, with shaggy hair and strange rectangular shaped pupils.
The man smiled giddily at him, as his hands fiddled with a strange puzzle box, twisting and turning it like a rubix cube, except it had one of those mazes with several metal balls in it, passageways opening and closing as the man messed with it.
"Uh.. hi there..?" Ted was slightly shaken, the man's excitement practically radiating off of him, slightly bouncing in his seat.
"What's your favourite colour!!?"
"I- uh-"
"Do you like goats? When's your birthday? How's Pete? Where do you live? What's in that cup? Why are you here? Do you like musical's? Do you like puzzles? What's your favourite show? What's your favourite movie? Are you Charlotte's boyfriend? Are you Sam's boyfriend? What's-"
The man sitting across from Ted fired off his questions at lightning speed, to the point they were almost unintelligible.
"-Woah, woah, woah, woah there bud, your going a little fast for me, I can barely understand what your saying!" Ted continued, "And plus! I don't even know who you are, it's kinda fucking weird to ask that many questions without introducing yourself first! ...Also, how do you know Pete's name?"
The stranger giggled, almost mockingly, he outstretched his hand, offering for Ted to shake it, "Oh, Spankoffski! You're so funny!" He giggled some more "My name is T'noy Karaxis, you, though, can call me Tinky!" Ted nervously shook the ma- Tinky's hand, his panic worsened at the fact that Tinky knew his last name, and also didn't give an explanation to knowing Pete's name.
Ted thought he should introduce himself, even if the strange man probably already knew his name..."Well, um, I'm Ted!" Tinky giggled, "Oh, Teddy bear! I know your name! How could I not!?" Ted froze, no one had called him Teddy since Jenny, but the 'Bear' part was...new.
He looked back down at his chai iced tea, bringing it up to his mouth and taking a sip, it was shit, but that was the Beanies charm. When he put his drink back down, Tinky had inexplicably gotten closer to Ted, he leaned back in his chair, a little more than weirded out.
"Can I ask questions now?" He cocked his head, his eyes unblinking.
"Uh- sure, shoot..!"
"What's your favourite store? Do you like your parents? What do you think of the Homeless Guy? Who's your favourite barista? Is Paul your best friend? Are you in a relationship??"
Ted only caught the last question, "Uh, that's kinda personal dude..." He squinted his eyes, taking another sip of his tea, Tinky looked a little disappointed at that answer.
They sat like that for another hour or so, Tinky asking questions, and Ted either answering, or deflecting. Eventually, Ted stood up, his cup had been empty for about 20 minutes, and he was getting really tired of the Beanies atmosphere.
"Well, this has been... Weird, but I think it's time for me to go." He walked out of the cafe, it was already beginning to get dark, and Ted didn't want to deal with the weirdos that came out at night. Once he had gotten to a quieter part of town, he noticed there was a second pair of footsteps behind him.
Ted whirled around, and came face to face with... Tinky... Upon seeing Ted's frightened face, Tinky giggled, still gripping on to the strange puzzle box. "Oh... Tinky... Why, exactly are you following me?" Tinky laughed more, "Oh! Teddy bear,-" He said, dragging out the last word,- "I just wanted to ask you more questions!" He bounced on the heels of his feet, more giggles escaping his throat.
"Like... What?" Ted put his hands in his pockets, if he was going to be honest, this Tinky guy freaked him the fuck out. The man in yellow smiled widely at him, his hands rhythmically tapping on his box, "Can.... I..." He built up to the question, a strange suspense hung in the air...
"Follow you home????" Tinky rushed it out, like he couldn't contain his excitement any longer. Ted took a moment to process the question, "Wha- No! Fuck no! What kind of question is that!?" He turned away, speed walking, hoping Tinky wouldn't follow. Tinky did, in fact, follow.
-
Ted had took several diversions, and crossed the road more times than necessary, hoping Tinky would let up.
"Can I, please, go home with you??"
"No"
"Pretty please???"
"Nuh-uh"
"Please please please please please please please please! Please!"
"Hmmmm, nah"
He had slowed down to a much slower pace now, Tinky still following, no matter how many times Ted said no, Tinky would keep asking, it was really starting to get on his nerves...
"Teeeeeddy beeeeaaarrr!"
"What Tinky?" He responded, agitated.
"Can I go home with you????"
He let out an annoyed sigh, his blood starting to boil. "NO! Tinky...No... Just no." Ted was finally at his breaking point, he was ready to punch the yellow fuck in the face, his annoyance bubbling over into anger. He started to see red, his hands balling into fists, he was going to punch him in the face if he didn't shut the fuck up, he was going to-
-
Ted sat on his sofa, head in his hands, while Tinky sat next to him, cross legged.
He dragged his hands down his face. How the fuck is he going to deal with this?
