Looking at them, Professor David froze slightly and asked with a smile, "Only two? I heard there is another one."
"...... I'll give her a call." Ethan had an awkward expression and took the phone and went outside.
David wasn't in a hurry and walked slowly over to Orion, smiling and asking, "How are your team's duties organized?"
Orion put down his phone, "I'm in charge of modelling, Ethan is in charge of programming, and Mia is in charge of writing and defending the thesis."
"Modelling, programming and writing, standard setup," Teacher David smiled and continued, "You're Orion, right, I've read that thesis of yours, it's really a good one."
Orion's eyes lit up, "You study maths too, teacher?"
"Sort of, but my research direction is shifted towards physics, and maths papers are rarely published." David glanced at the doorway and continued, "This female student of yours, she doesn't seem to be very reliable."
David didn't say anything more, and after a moment's pause, he continued, "I would suggest that you guys could tweak things a little, with the same person being responsible for the modelling and the paper, and the remaining two being responsible for the programming. The advantage of this is that the person in charge of modelling has a stronger grasp of the topic. However, there is of course a downside, and that is that your burden will be very heavy. The competition is only three days long, which means that you have to start writing your paper immediately after you finish modelling."
Orion pondered, "Are ...... two people in charge of programming?"
David: "That's right."
Orion smiled and didn't give an immediate reply, "I'll think about it, after all, I have to discuss this with my teammates as well."
At that moment, there came the sound of trotting footsteps, the last of his teammates had finally arrived.
"I'm sorry, I got up slightly late, I'm really, really sorry!" Walking into the classroom with Ethan, Mia lowered her head to the teacher with an apologetic face and admitted her mistake.
"It's okay, since everyone's here, let's get started." David didn't blame her for being late, and turned around and walked to the podium, plugged the USB stick into the computer, and turned on the projector.
"Before we start the lecture, I would like you to look at one example. I hope that through this set of cases, I can make you first understand what mathematical modelling actually is?"
With that, he pressed the mouse and turned the PPT to the next page.
"Three merchants each take a follower to cross the river in a boat, a small boat can only accommodate two people, the follower secretly agreed to kill someone on either bank of the river once the follower outnumbered the merchants, but the power of how to cross the river in a boat is in the hands of the merchants, Q: How can the merchants cross the river safely?"
It's not a difficult question, and even without the power of the system, Orion quickly figures out the answer.
"For the first round, two followers go over and one comes back."
"Second round, two more followers go over, one comes back."
"Third round, two merchants go over, one follower and one merchant come back."
"Fourth round, two merchants go over, one follower comes back."
"Round five, two followers go over and one comes back."
