Isabel had been in a bit of a panic the last couple of days.
She hadn't received any new assignments from her mentor since that last chart was handed in.
Although this long-awaited relaxation was not bad, but too much relaxation instead made her a little worried, wondering if she had offended Professor Pasi in some way.
Compared to mentors, students were definitely the weaker side. Especially when Professor Pasi frequently threw concerned glances at her, it made her feel even more nervous.
Just as Isabel hesitated whether she should take the initiative to go over and ask, Ms Pasi finally opened her mouth to break the silence while looking her way for the nth time.
Professor Michelle Pasi, suddenly bloomed into a caring smile.
Because the smile was so shocking, it almost frightened Isabel.
Professor Pasi's line of sight drifted to the calendar on the desk and continued, ''There's a lot of work these days, it's rather hard. Starting today, I'll give you a month's holiday, so take a good rest."
Isabel: "......?"
Could this be ......
going to give herself a holiday?
Happiness came so suddenly that Isabel wondered if she had heard it wrong.
Several masters students and PhDs, who were also sitting in the office, were looking at her with envious eyes.
Professor Pasi had never talked to her students in this tone of voice; to this strict lady, her students were her employees, moreover they were the kind of cheap labourers who were paid $300 a month.
However now ......
After a moment's pause, the smile on Professor Michelle Pasi's face grew warmer and warmer: "By the way, there's one more thing, about that paper on the research report of the development of the retail industry in India, I've reconsidered it, and your work played a big role in that paper, so in order to show your contribution, I've decided to put you in the position of a co-author. "
Not yet recovered from her earlier shock, Isabel stared blankly at the professor and subconsciously said, "But Professor, I just helped to collect the literature and cartography ......"
"Just?" Looking at her seriously, Michelle Pasi's expression was unprecedentedly serious: "Isabel, I have to tell you. For a thesis, collecting literature and cartography, these auxiliary tasks, are just as important as the writing of the thesis, this is for the sake of fairness, in this matter, I will stick to my decision of placing you in the position of a co-author."
Isabel: "????"
......
On the third weekend after New Year's Day, Orion boarded a flight to the West Coast.
Not sure if it was because he saw his student's name on the list of conference submissions, Mr Francis, the president of the American Mathematical Society, sent him an invitation letter, eagerly inviting him to attend the conference at Berkeley.
Originally, Orion did not plan to attend this conference in his schedule.
However, since Mr Francis was too enthusiastic, and thinking that he was going to San Francisco anyway, Orion accepted his invitation and agreed to go there, and in the meantime, he also looked at how his young student's presentation was going to be done.
