This was the first time Orion had encountered a bottleneck in his computing power.

Previously, most of the difficulties he encountered were at the logical level, and even if he occasionally encountered a more complex calculation problem, he could quickly find the result with the help of a computer.

Now, however, the situation he encountered was completely different from the past.

For a mathematical model of a single problem, a computer with a reasonable CPU and software such as Molpro could easily complete the calculations.

However, when the "single problem" is extended to "a certain class of problems", the amount of calculations involved, will grow exponentially along with the "unknown parameters" that appear in the theoretical model.

Orion tried to solve some of the problems involved in the mathematical model on his own laptop, but no matter how many times he tried, he ended up crashing.

Fortunately, however, he soon thought of someone who could help.

  That person was David Shaw.

Though this big name, with whom he had only met once at the MRS conference ......

  "Here we are."

Woken up by Jericho, Orion opened his eyes and looked out the window of the car, and what came into view was none other than the D.E. Shaw Institute.

At this moment, he was on the campus of Columbia University.

But to Orion's surprise, it was now nearing evening. Originally, according to his plan, he was supposed to arrive here around two or three in the afternoon.

  "How long did I sleep?"

"Four hours ...... There was a bit of traffic on the road," Jericho continued with some concern, "Professor, while I know you're engaged in a great study, your health is the basis of everything. "

"I'm in great health, I haven't even encountered a single cold since coming to Princeton." Rubbing his eyes, Orion texted David Shaw to let him know he'd arrived.

He'd called ahead to make an appointment, indicating that he'd be stopping by for a visit.

After getting out of the car, Orion didn't have to wait long at the door before he saw the man Wall Street investment banks called "The Geek" welcome him with open arms.

"Welcome, my friend, you're finally here!" Giving him a warm hug as soon as they met, David Shaw laughed heartily and led the two of them towards the inside of the institute, "I guessed that you would definitely make a trip here this year."

Orion was surprised, " Could that be guessed as well?"

  "Of course."

"Is there a scientific basis for it?"

"No! But you can interpret it as scientific intuition."

Orion gave him an odd expression.

If this wasn't a joke, then his intuition was frighteningly accurate.

Bringing the two to his office, David went to the coffee machine and brewed two cups of coffee, placing them in front of Orion and Jericho respectively.

Then, he made himself a cup of tea and sat down opposite the two, looking at Orion expectantly and said.

"Say, what's so exciting that you need my help?"
