According to the official information released, a total of 77 colleges and universities 265 teams, more than 700 college students, participated in the competition. The competition is co-sponsored by the National Ministry of Education and the National Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
The competition officially started at 8 a.m. on 12 September.
According to the rules, it is divided into A/B topics, and each team chooses one topic as its goal, completes and uploads, within 72 hours, the md5 code generated by the official website, and uploads a PDF paper corresponding to the md5 code on the day of the end of the competition.
Generally speaking, the selection of topics had to be controlled within half an hour, and all of them were scrambling to read the questions.
However, the moment they saw the topic, everyone was dumbfounded.
A) Lunar rover soft landing orbit design and control strategy ......
B) Creative flat folding table?
"What the hell is this year's topic?"
"It's completely different from the training we did!"
"Seems like we've done a similar one before, like designing a launch programme for an Astra rocket ...... but I thought for sure such a sci-fi topic wouldn't fucking come out, I didn't expect it ......!"
"Shit, think of something!"
"I learnt mathematics, and fucking not learn how to go to the sky!"
"Design table ...... there is nothing to design a table, not just four legs? Foldable ...... We put a spring behind the legs of the stool?"
Quite lively, it can be seen that the students are all confused by this topic.
... ...
Looking at the two topics, Ethan frowned.
Both questions were related to physics.
The first one involved orbital calculation in aerospace physics, which was definitely not enough to rely on high school physics knowledge alone. Topic B appears to be very simple, but in fact it is not much easier than the first question, which involves the analysis of the dynamic motion of the table legs, involves the analysis of the material force and a series of problems, involves not only mathematical modelling knowledge, but also requires a certain amount of structural mechanics as well as materials science and even ergonomics.
However, ......
The team's "maths genius" is only in his second year of college and hasn't even begun to study university physics.
There's no way around it.
The first one can't be done if you don't have enough physics knowledge, but the second one can still be solved by collecting information through the internet and trying to turn it into a maths problem.
Ethan looked at Orion, "How about topic B?"
Orion shook his head, "Go with topic A."
"A?" ethan frowned, "Are you okay with that?"
"College physics, I've already finished it, and space physics, although it looks complicated, is actually just three chapters", pausing for a moment, Orion swept a glance at the team next to him, and continued, "And, look, there's more than enough people choosing topic B already."
