The red signal light kept flashing.
With the busy engineers, the faulty programme was forcibly terminated, and the temperature of the processor finally came down.
However, with the termination of the calculation process, the blue light that signified "hope" also dimmed.
"31st experiment."
Gazing at the chassis located in the radiation isolation room, the tip of David's nose almost poking the floor-to-ceiling glass, his gaze was depressed with a heavy burden that could not be dispersed.
The 31st experiment.
Undoubtedly still a failure.
The atmosphere inside the research institute was stagnant, and except for the parallel computing engineers responsible for operating the supercomputer who were exchanging technical questions in whispers, everyone was acting rather listless. Not a single word was wanted to be said.
It wasn't just the supercomputer that was tired, but also all the researchers who had contributed their efforts to this project.
In the course of this month, D.E. Shaw Institute had burned through at least ten million dollars for this mathematical model.
During this period, the D.E. Shaw Institute continued to improve the calculation procedures, while Orion continued to revise the details of the theoretical model through the collected calculation data.
However, apart from the several blackboards filled with writing and piles of scrap paper, no pleasing results were obtained.
"Sure enough, it still doesn't work ......" Looking at the several engineers entering the isolation room, David sighed softly.
" How about, I'll pay for this one." Orion said a little too much.
"It's fine, this amount of money is nothing. Scientific research is like gambling, I'll consider it as a trip to Las Vegas." Compared to those engineers with heavy faces and the computational chemistry doctors with frustrated faces, David's tone was quite relaxed even though his face was full of bitterness.
It was unknown whether he really had more money than he had room to spend, or whether his scientific intuition told him that this line of thought must have the value of digging deeper down.
Therefore, spending this amount of money was something he was willing to do.
But after saying that, he still added, "Although when I went to Las Vegas, I never lost this much."
After the end of the experiment, it was the routine summary meeting.
At the meeting, everyone's behaviour was silent.
After Orion briefly spoke a few words about his point of view, the rest of the time was basically the heads of the two experimental groups speaking.
As for David, he remained silent until the end of the meeting.
"Perform maintenance operations on Anton and start the 32nd experiment in three days," without saying much, David looked at the engineer closest to him and simply ordered, "I want you to make sure that Anton is running at its optimal condition before the next experiment starts. "
That engineer nodded, "Yes, boss!"
"It's not just the supercomputer, I need a break too, and I'm sure you all the same." Removing his glasses, David rubbed his brow, "That's it, meeting dismissed."
